My heart surgery should be in two weeks. When I talked to my surgeon last time he told me that he would not use Pancuronium. He didnt tell me why, just no Pancuronium. Somewhere on the net I found some information about post operative intubation. Does Pancuronium cause prolonged postoperative intubation in cardiac patients? Can it be the reason why my doctor dont want to use it?
I can not tell you the reasons your doctor wont use Pancuronium in your surgery. I just can tell you about some studies that have been done about Pancuronium. Scientists and working doctors are agreed that use of Pancuronium can cause prolonged postoperative intubation in cardiac patients. That is why, Rocuronium is used more often.
