Call the Poison Control Center and they can explain it to you.. Even though Klonipin is a
benzodiazepine there is a special test that must be given to check for it in your urine specimen.
The metabolism is different with Klonopin and will give a false negative if the correct test is not given. Many people suffer from this and are accused unjustly for not taking their medications when it is really an error on the part of the physician for not administering the correct test. The best way to test for clonazepam is through a blood test.

I have gone to two rehab centers in the last 6 months to try to come off of a lot of RXd meds including benzos, and 2 rehabs plus a suboxone doctor plus two hospitals said I was negative for benzos, which was absurd because I take 6-8mg klonopin a day (high tolerance over the course of years of taking it). I was just floored to see that it wasn't showing up at all. From what I've read, klonopin is rapidly excreted thru the urine and it takes very large amounts to show in some tests. Im sure the tests will change in the future.

Bull sh*t, My ex wife took about "30" 1mg pills and all they did was pump her stomach. About 2 or 3 hours later they had me take her to a place called the medows for mental help. This wasn't her first time of trying to OD, She wanted a divorce so I gave it to her and after screwing half the town she wanted us to get back together and I said NO! Another time she took 75 or so Xanax (1mg) I took her to the hospital and they said it wouldn't hurt her. They kept her and due to the time that had went by since she took the pills they did nothing but let her sleep. Next day she was fine. Maybe hard to believe but it's the gods truth.

And by the way the reason I'm reading this thread is Like the others on here I'm also on clonazepam, Have been since 1999 and I take 3 a day and they're not showing up on my 15 panel drug test and I have no idea why. Gonna send a pic to the pain clinic each time I take one. (If only)

Teptep, I just had the same problem, a month ago I am on 2mg twice daily and had taken one 2.5 hours before pee test, everything showed up except the klonopin, I am furious after 31 years with the same dr. I am being kicked to the curb, (one of these clinics) I am having the same problem you are being treated like a liar etc. Well I had my pharmacist look into it, and I have your answer, you may not like it, my pharmacist said they have done many studies on benzos and testing, turns out they show false negatives all the time, and further more he said klonopin is by far the worst, showing up false negative in urine as much as 40% of the time, and even if they do the most sophisticated test they have is still comes up false negative 5% of the time! NICE HUH, my pharmacist sent this info to my Dr and every Dr in the clinic. Didn't make a differance! Unbelievable apparently these Dr's don't care there so afraid of loosing there license your health care is no longer there priority protecting themselves is! Well there you have it SAD STATE OF HEALTHCARE!

I just had the exact same thing happen to me. My doctor accused me of not taking it & I never skip a day. He said it did not show up in my last 2 urine tests, I am worried he will not prescribe it to me next month & I suffer from severe muscle spasms - I take 1 (10 mg) a day (at night). I was hoping someone had given you an answer. Years ago I was told that my liver metabolizes things very quickly....3 out of 4 surgeries which I've had, I have awoken - one time I actually sat up & tried to get off the operating table! The only time I did not wake during surgery was when I had heart surgery (thank God!)

I have been on 2mg of Clonazepam for 7 years and yesterday after a routine doctor visit my urine test showed negitive for any benzodiazepines. My doctor said he was sending it off for further testing and if it came back negative I would be released from his practice. I have been a patient for 14 years, I have always taken my meds as prescribed and I am so upset this is happening. I also have no idea why my tests are coming back negitive. I even took a 2mg pill 40 mins before my appt with my other medication. I wish someone could explain this. I don't want to be released from my doctor when I have done nothing wrong..

The same thing happened to me! My Dr ended up taking my much needed medication from me because he doesn't believe that I am the one swallowing the medication. I hate they make me feel like I'm insulting their intelligence. I requested blood tests hoping that works prove I was talking it but they went able to use my blood sample because the Dr office no longer works with that particular lab. That's not my fault. I was willing to give it no question asked. I'm starting to think that it's common for this to happen because I also know of other ppl this has happened too.

This happened to me in pain management. I have serious health problem so am in pain management. They make life stressful on you in that program no matter age per DEA rules so they are under stress as are patients.

I showed up & told test time. I was fine with that so took a test. I'd taken my klon normally 4mg a day. Dr. came into the room stating problem with test not showing and person giving me test said only reason not shows if not taking med. I was upset and angry when tester told me that since I take meds right way.

We all need to push for a Portugal type plan and do not be bullied. If tossed from two programs, it goes on record against us so that is time for constitutional lawyer and class actions against pain management clinics who are harming those in need by making false accusations, causing stress or tossing people in need from programs. Take America back now if we have to sue them all into the ground and start with a new generation of medical professionals under new laws per DEA etc I might be sick but in fighting mode just as I do against disease process.

This has happened to me so many times, I have lost one doctor already because of this and I am in the process now of bringing in my script for my doctor to do a pill count. I used to be on a lot higher dose than I am now but I still take it every single day and it just does not seem to show up. I am glad I am not the only one that this is happening to, I am actually going to show my doctor this thread so he can see that this is a common issue. I thank you all for the posts and the verification that I am not the only one. It's sucks when a doctor does not believe you are not taking a medication that I really need. I hope this next urinalysis goes well and at least my doctor will have read this post before the results come back. Still I am angry that I lost a doctor already due to this issue and really do not want to loose another.
