Drug testing a newborn.

if u use cocaine once in the fourth month of your pregnancy will it be detected in the babies first poop?

Wow, the amount of B.S opinions here is ridiculous. Anyway to answer the question at hand, I think it all depends on you. Maybe some states are different, I live in WI. I am now 34 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child, I have two daughters who are 4 & 5 years old, and I smoked pot with all of them, with the acknowledgement of my doctor. I wasn't going to lie about it to my doctor because the best way for a doctor to treat a patient is when they know everything that plays into that patients health. I am a medical student, married, happy normal person who doesn't abuse alcohol, street drugs, or cigarettes. I have been smoking since I was 12 so about 12 years now actually-and my daughters have been advanced since birth. Healthy weights, perfect pregnancies with no problems, births were perfect. They both excell in different ways but my doctor has always been astonished with their cognitive development, and physically they are always in the 95th percentile. All in all they are beautiful, smart, happy, normal and very well taken care of little girls. Parenting itself and the way it is handled has more of an effect on the development of the child than smoking pot while pregnant. Indian women used marijuana for it's beneficial effects. I do not think toking out of bongs and blowing joints and or blunts would be a good way to go about it, but smoking small amounts of high grade weed to eliminate pregnancy symptoms (that can have negative effects on the baby, such as not eating bc of nausea, dehydration bc of nausea, insufficient sleep, etc.) doesn't have the effect that uneducated, non smoker people seem to be convinced it does. I have NEVER dealt with CPS because regardless of my smoking, that I was completely honest about, I am a responsible adult and a damn great mother who provides her children with all the love and care they need (and then some!!), and as long as you are that for your baby-CPS can't do sh*t, and they wont waste their time on chasing a responisble pot smoking mother who loves and cares for her child-while crack, cocaine, heroin, methadone, and alcohol exposed children are being born with major complications to less than deserving mothers, many of which abandon their children at some point, and never seek treatment. So if smoking some marijuana is the only 'bad' thing you have on your conscience, don't worry- you and your baby are safe. I wish I had time to be more detailed, I'm sure some negative, ridiculous, and uneducated or inexperienced person will pick through this because I didnt have time to write more, but I just wanted to get it out there like other who do that it isn't what it's made out to be!

Blatantly false. There have been scientific studies done that show THC has no negative impact on fetuses. Smoking anything is not good for the baby as it will decrease the amount of oxygen it receives. Fortunately there are ways of using marijuana without smoking it.

Unconfirmed by the lab just means they have not run more scrutinizing tests to get an exact level or to know an exact drug (instead of "opiate", we would know "oxycoton"). All they would have to do is rerun the sample with more specific testing. Baby was still positive.

kills me how everyone talks so much sh** ... its easy for them to say  how selfish and wrong it is because THEY PROB. DIDNT DO ANYTHING BEFOR THEY GOT PREGANANT ... no one has asked your age .... your living environment befor judging ... let me remind you all of one thing ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ! remember that and life would be better ... but i would suggest yhou stop IMMEDIATELY ... drink 1-2 gallons of water a day from here till your pregnancy .. IF you smoke ciggs. you want to cut back extremely quitting is best because that cause's pre-term labor and that can be harmfull and shortn the time you need to clean your system !

it does not matter if you stop 3 months b4 the babys born they can get blood from the babys inbellacored and test it and it will show that you have and when you go 2 your doc appments they drug test you and if you failed they will test your baby

It stays in the urine for several days, in the meconium, from 4-5 mos. onward, irreversibly. I have a friend who had hyperemesis gravidarum and was vomiting throughout her whole pregnancy. She knew marijuana was safer than the otc or prescription anti-nausea meds, so she chose to use marijuana (as necessary, throughout the entire pregnancy), but did have to deal with some minor consequences. Nobody took their baby away, but a CPS worker was assigned to them after baby's urine tested positive, and did come to visit their house the day of the birth, to meet them and take a look around. They discussed the reasons for the marijuana usage, and the CPS worker seemed satisfied with everything, left, came back a few weeks later to close the case. That's it. Their son is now 6 and is a healthy, active, normal child. Not everyone's experience with CPS is as nice as this, however...

I stopped smoking pot and took anti anxiety drugs prescribed by my OB... not only did i have postpardum but he is autistic and the drug they gave me is linked to autism in kids... this time i said i dont want any anti anxiety drugs ill smoke pot if i have an anxiety attack and my OB said its SAFer!!! so people like this person who is calling someone a loser id just like to ask... how many prescription drugs do you take? how much alcohol do you consume? over the counter drugs??? yes tylenol included. I have taken NONe of those in my whole pregnancy, I HAVe smoked pot a few times when i felt an anxiety attack coming on, which is far more harmful to the fetus then the pot. in fact they have found NO links at all for pot causing ANY problems in a newborn, it is natural, a plant, no addictives... you can't say the same thing about any drug including tylenol.

i think its very rude for strangers to judge other people i have 3 kids i smoked with all of them and they are all happy healthy kids. they are also very smart. ialso think its awful that aperson would wish to have a persons who they donot know child taken from them. if you have ever known any one who had lost there child to the state for a no good reason then you would understand... smoking weed does not make you a bad parent or selfish.who are you to judge any way you are not god and only he may judge me or anyone else!!!

i have been looking all over for the answer to this question and every site is just ppls opinions no facts on whether or not someones baby will test positive for pot if the quit within a certain number of weeks or months before they give birth....i dont need to know whether or not you approve or disappove of the choices i made in my life.....i think its wrong that ppl are so hard on others when you dont have to live their lives or go thru what they have.....i think everyone has a right to live the way they feel is right aslong as it is not harmful to others....i quit at 4 or 5 months cause thats when i found out i was going to be a mom again my...i just dont want to deal with dhs and if that is going to be what happens i want to be prepared for it...im not worried cause i know i am clean but i dont want to go back to my life after my son is born and not have to worry about ppl coming in my life to judge me when they never walked in my shoes or have any idea about me and feel that something is wrong because someone along time ago decided to make pot outlawed its stupid cause guess what those same ppl drink and kill more brian cells then i do and drinking was out lawed once as well

i smoked with my first pregnancy, it helped with morning sickness and my doctor actually told me to continue smoking marijuana so i did not lose any more weight. i quit at 7 and a half months, they do not test the cord just catch the babys 1st urine he did not test positive for thc and neither did i, my child is not even 2 and is very smart and healthy, no development issues. he is perfectly fine. they are doing research and actually considering prescribing medical marijuana for pregnant women for pain and nausea. im pregnant with another one and smoked with her too, i believe it helped me with all the stress i was under and prevented me from miscarrying, it helped me eat, sleep, and helped me with all the pain i am in. they wont take your child from you i know someone who smoked the night she went into labor and has both her children.

 

i smoke april18 though the 20.i pregnant in my child will be here on june 3.do u think my child will test positive for weed?but at my obgyn office they said i didnt pee drity.i pee clean all the last 3 time.

who the hell are anyone of you to judge im sorry did god come back and redie and leave anyone of you in charge??? dont think so..
