Hi, my son has epididymitis. What kind of complications are seen in this disease? Is it going to effect his fertility?

Hi, epididymitis can have serious outcome, if not treated on time. Eventually it can cause shrinkage of the affected testicle or atrophy. Also scrotal abscess, when the infected tissue is filled with pus. Other complications include chronic epididymitis, which can occur when untreated acute epididymitis leads to recurrent episodes. In some cases even decrease in fertility has been noticed. If the condition spreads from epididymis to testicle, the resulting condition is known as epididymo-orchitis.
