Hi I'm fourteen years old and I've had a lot of anxiety recently. I don't like going to sleep so every night before bed I get short of breath and I get a headache, and my heart stearts to beat faster because I'm nervous.
However, tonight I went to bed and I could feel my heartbeats through the pillow, and it seemed to go REALLY FAST, and then I'd take deep breaths, and it would drop suddenly, and go much slower. And sometimes my heart would go B-Bump, B-Bump.........B-BUMMMMPPP.
It really scares me, and I'm wondering if this is caused by my nervousness before bed or maybe something like "Long QT Syndrome."???
I play soccer 4 times a week and I spend about 2 hours every day running. And on the fifth day of the week I go to the gym and then swim. Could excersising too much contribute to any heart problems I may have? I think I read that that could cause irregular heart beats...can anyone help me with this?

Hi Layla! Am not that active as you are but I get these symptoms too from time to time. And it always happens when I go to bed. I believe that this is stress related. I don't get these every night, but a couple of times per moth. My boyfriend have the same problem too. And sometimes I start shaking so jump off my bed thinking "it's an earthquake", but it's just me shaking. I asked my doctor what was this, and she measured my blood pressure and said that everything seems to be fine at the moment, so it's probably stress related. I don't think that sports could cause you any harm. I never heard of Long QT Syndrome. 8-| I hope this helps. Take care.
