I am only 26 and I have a rather large exteral hemorrhoid. It used to hurt a lot and cause me a lot of pain but in the last year or so, it is not nearly as bad or frequent. I am very embarassed about it though and it is making me not want to be intimate with people because it is embarassing and very clearly noticible. I went to the doctor again and was going to set up surgery to get it removed so I could go back to feeling normal again, but after reading posts here, I don't know that this is a very good idea. A lot of the things I've read have been about internal and thrombosed hemorrhoids though. Has anyone had experience with only external removal? I understand the severe pain for up to two weeks, it is the other prolonged and different problems I am worried about.
Also, has anyone used any good products to simply shirink the hemorrhoid? I just want the actual thing gone since the symptoms have decreased.
