I had a pap today, and I also went it because I've had dull achy pains in my left pelvic area. (aprn said it was because I'm due for my birth control shot (depo) she seemed to be rough and I had a lot of discomfort. now it's 9:30 at night and I am having major pelvic pain (still in left side) and its shooting down my left leg. I'm also spotting which I hear is normal. But the cramps are pretty painful..to the point where it hurts to walk. Is this normal? I don't want to call the office and sound silly if this is usually what happens.

Mornin Megan, The last Pap i had i swear to God she was digging for gold, i think she went in up to her elbow lol. When she left the room and i started to get dressed, i took a papertowel and began to wipe off that Gel stuff when i saw a pretty good amount of blood. After i got home and a few hours later, i started to get the worst pain in my pelvic area. I took some advil and curled up on the couch like i did when i was high school, the cramps slowly subsided but came back when the Advil began to wear off. I bled for a whole day, not a lot but enough to make me wear a panty liner and the cramps lasted for another 24 hours. I had sex with my husband on the 3rd night of my exam and it freakin hurt.

I'm not saying that you should not call your doctor, i'm just saying that i had the same thing and it took about 2 or 3 days to all come to an end. Try 3 Advil and lay down, it did for me.

Are they doing it differently these days?

My wife complained of it hurting for several days after the latest one. She never had any complaints in the past.
