Judy.. This is a long write-up. But I took the time to write it to you because I recently went through a real awakening – which changed completely.. the way I deal with all my health issues.
Before you give any further thought to this matter - DO NOTHING MORE with western medicine practitioners until AFTER you've seen a “Dr. of TCM” (Traditional Chinese Medicine). And if that sounds whacky.. then your reaction is very normal – but that’s why it’s even more important that you just read on a bit here, because I’m about to show you how I was flat-out ASTONISHED in my own experience (and lower down, if you still need further convincing, another story from a friend of mine who was equally amazed with his experience.)
Like I said - this is going to take you a minute to read through, but for you to be as amazed as I was, I thought it would be both nurturing and entertaining for you if I were to walk you through every bit of my experience – especially in case you have no personal ‘belief-altering’ story of your own yet.
**************************
I developed a highly unusual case of Tennis Elbow. Tennis Elbow is normally triggered by repeated movements over time – but my scenario was unusual because it happened all at once, during a single 3-4 minute event.. clearing out gravel and dirt from the depth of a fence post hole.
My Family doctor told me there was nothing he could do, and that it could take 6 months to 2 years to mend – so I went looking for 'alternative' help, and found that "Tennis Elbow" is actually one of the therapies that acupuncture delivers its best results with. YAHOO I thought.. so I went and Googled acupuncture, and found out about this “TCM” thing along the way - by complete accident.
I ended up discovering a guy locally (Dr. Henry Dent) who, I later found out, is one of the best TCM Doctors in all of N.America.
Anyway.. on my first visit, Dr. Dent informed me that Tennis Elbow typically takes between 3 and 10 treatments - but (even though he hasn’t personally run into any situations that take a full 10 treatments), he told me he’s heard of really bad cases that can take 10 - 12 treatments. And within 2 weeks, I was about to learn why TCM experience is what makes all the difference – because GOOD acupuncture is not just about ‘pinning’ down the right points from a chart on the wall.
Anyway, my pain improved so quickly – that after three treatments, I decided to try going back to work.
* * * BAD choice.
I made things even worse than they were in the beginning, and we had to start all over again. In fact, this time, my Tennis Elbow was so bad that I couldn’t grip a dish cloth firmly enough to get it to the point where I could carry it across from the sink to another counter without it dripping water. My grip was SHOT! PLUS.. I was unable to straighten my arm beyond about 140degreess – or roughly the angle you see represented by the left-most lines in a normally written letter “y”!
When he began RE-treating me, Dr. Dent was quite astonished by the change in my condition, and determined that my case was now severe enough that it might be that one in his 15 years of TCM practice that needed to go all the way out to twelve treatments.
So okay, let’s forget the original 3 treatments, ‘cause like I said.. I made things worse than they were the first time I visited him.
- - - So as of the second point of intervention.. I’m into treatment by 4 more times, and I happened to mention that my original case of Tennis Elbow happened within 24 hours of sustaining a severe sprain to the knee that almost completely disabled me for an entire evening. That was when his face lit up. Curiously, he began reciting reference points from his knowledge of the human body’s meridian lines. Then he turned to a chart on the wall, and said one of those intellectual Ah-has we’ve all heard uttered at times. He turned around and informed me that my right elbow, is also part of the same meridian that my left knee is on – and that doing serious damage to the knee – probably left my elbow in a state of being super compromised, and whereby any forearm strain could have caused the original incidence of Tennis Elbow.
WOW said my brain! But in the meantime, Dr.D says “I’m going to try something completely different this treatment. He then got out a special meter that (I think) reads the frequency-energy of electrical charge in the skin, and began testing out the surface of (you won’t believe this..) MY (right) EAR!! So I asked him what that’s all about, since dude.. that’s my ear! That was when I learned that there is a full map of your body represented between the surfaces of your two ears. The amazement wasn’t fully absorbed when he took out a small pen-like probe... (I call it his Harry Potter Wand..) and he poked my ear with it, and asked if it hurt. (By this visit, I had learned the difference between a normal pressure kind of discomfort and what he meant by the question..) so I said “Yes, actually – it does.”
“GOOD,” he said “. . . because it’s not supposed to. That means I’ve got it”
“Got What?” I asked.
“Just hang on” he said... “I’m going to trigger a point in your ear, and when I tell you to, I want you to try and straighten your arm, okay?!”
I said “SURE!” – because by this time, I was already anticipating he was going to do something that would help me straighten out my arm a bit more than I currently could.
So at the point where he poked my ear, he said “Go ahead” – and I put gentle effort into straightening my arm (remember here.. this thing is SUPER tender to the touch!!) and all of a sudden, the pain was completely GONE.. and my arm went into the fully extended position – as if nothing were ever wrong with it!
Now... let’s count them up.. 1, 2, 3, 4? Yes.. only FOUR treatments, and an arm that couldn’t even straighten was over the biggest hurdle! WOW..
in another 3-4 sessions all of my muscle pain was also alleviated, and my visits to the amazing “Pin Doctor” were concluded!
Dr. Dent later confided with me – that my case of Tennis Elbow was the worst he had ever treated. My muscle tone had gone beyond tension, and had become completely flaccid. I had absolutely no muscle control whatsoever at the height of my problem, and my hero – Dr. Henry Dent – cured what traditional medicine (according to my family doctor) was unable to do anything for.
So Judy, you need to learn from my experience, that these professionals have skills and knowledge up their sleeves that Western Medicine doesn’t want to admit are even possible. In fact, some western medicine doctors refuse to even believe they have any credibility whatsoever – yet results like mine are TYPICAL!
I’m not saying your situation can be remedied by a Doctor of TCM – but I promise you – I would be the LAST person on this planet to be surprised if TCM and/or TCM-accupuncture was able to correct your problem.
Below, I decided to take the time to outline another story I heard from someone who was equally amazed by his TCM acupuncture doctor in Alberta. But really you could quit reading right now and just learn that with very little exploratory searching, you will find absolutely AMAZING testimonials of these professionals all over the Internet.
(By the way –when it comes to acupuncture, you should know that I got lucky. Above all, you should note my repeated mentioning of TCM when it comes to seeking out your own acupuncture practitioner. I cannot over-stress how important it is that they are not just schooled in acupuncture, but are also trained as a Doctor of TCM so that they can also advise you of traditional formulas *which is another story –
**************************
I had a bad fall that caused permanent damage to my shoulder that caused the build up of a calcium bone spur that had been bugging me for ten years – and for ten years, I could only sleep on my right side. Again.. every year the pain got worse – and every year, my family doctor said there was nothing could be done about it. (FUNNY PART OF THIS STORY ... is that my family doctor IS CHINESE!! LOL)
Anyway.. I got rid of the bone spur problem within a single treatment-period using a TCM Herb Formula called “Pu Gong Ying! Now I roll around like any normal person when I’m sleeping, and don’t have those pains ANY more!!! AWESOME RESULTS!!
**************************
What I’ve learned since my own experience began is that there are unforeseen problems that can result from some of the ‘modern’ Acupuncture training facilities where people *are* graduating as full licensed practitioners, but who don’t know how to cure some of the most important things that tie acupuncture to Traditional Chinese Medicine such as Qigong, and dealing with things like a yang deficiency. So yeah.. be sure to focus on finding an Doctor of TCM. And if you can only get a certified Acupuncture Practitioner – At least ask them if they know how to cure a Yang deficiency. If they don’t then keep looking, because the ability to identify, and cure either a Yin, or a Yang imbalance is a critical part of the teaching required by an Acupuncture Practitioner for them to be able to do good work on you.
(Wikipedia will help you here if you’re curious about the basics)
---------------------------------------------------
Here’s the other ‘proof’ story – a much shorter read.
* A friend of mine gets hurt at work. His back is DONE. Doctors tell him the only way he’ll have any chance of pain relief is to operate, and that they can’t guarantee the surgery won’t make things worse.
* Like me, he decides he needs to investigate alternatives other than western medicine.
* He goes to a TCM Doctor, who takes down his history (which, by the way, is an absolutely essential PRE-visit to get things started off with...)
* Next, the doctor puts on some rubber gloves.
This kinda freaked out my friend – who asked “What’s that all about? You’re not gonna try anything weird here are you?
* Doctor says, no – I just want to look around inside your mouth.
* “MOUTH? – Uhmmm.. my pain is in my back, Doc!” says my friend.
* The doctor then reassured him it was necessary. And within a couple minutes, the doctor says I know exactly what’s wrong. Your jaw is out of alignment.
Long story short – the doctor does an adjustment of his jaw, and in ONE session, 100% of his back pain is GONE.. forever – and obviously.. he was forever grateful because he never had to go for surgery.
So Judy.. my advice to you is that you should **Always** seek someone with 10 or more years of experience in TCM if you can!!
If I’m not off on my prediction, it could very well be the most outstanding choice you make regarding your health – for the rest of your life.
How long did it take to go away once you started taking the pills.
I have had the same feeling especially when I swallow, like there is a golf ball in my larynx ! i also get a sharp pain in my Larynx from time to time. Could it be Thyroid related ? I suffered from severe heartburn and was put onto Solox, as my GP was worried about my throat getting burnt and causing cancer. What could it be ?
Regards
Linda
what symptoms are you finding, i need the sympromts please
As an oral health professional I would like to add that any abnormality in the mouth or throat needs to be checked by a doctor, dentist or ENT (usually the doctor or dentist will refer you to an ENT, especially if you insist). If the symptoms persist and your current doctor or dentist ignores the issue get a second opinion. Mouth and throat cancers are serious. Their symptoms are often painless. The earlier you seek professional help the better. It may be nice to find the answer you are hoping for on line but unless you have your specific problem assessed by a professional you will not be assured of an accurate diagnosis. I have witnessed many patients whom have these symptoms, a small minority have been diagnosed with cancer and thankfully have had minimal surgery to prevent the onset of a serious life threatening disease. The golden rule is - if you have any symptoms which persist longer than 2 weeks, seek professional advice. At best it will save your life, and at least it will stop you from worrying.
I just returned from the doctor. She explained to me that the lump in my throat was acid reflux. Not everyone has the burning sensation of acid reflux. But she said it was probably acid reflux
I am having all the symptoms that you guys are having.its so hard especially at night when I'm laying on the bed. It feels like someone is choking me. I am so scared. I sing and I force myself with those high notes. I was thinking that maybe it was because of that that I'm having some kind of whatever in my throat. I hope it goes away. It soundsgross but sometimes when I burp or try to burp, a bUbbled saliva comes out.so sticky too. Eew. And by the way I'm having chest pain as well.
The feeling of a lump in your throat is often caused by enxiety and stress. I have had this a lot recently due to having high levels of stress to deal with. I am a uni student and every time i have an assessment due i get stressed i feel like i have a golf ball stuck in my throat and the more i know it is there the more i think it really is a lump. When in fact it purely is all in my mind. I hate the feeling, it is awful and it does go away eventually. I find a nice massage around the neck and shoulders often relieves any unnecessary tension and helps get rid of the lumpy feeling. Do not resort to taking painkillers because these will not work, maybe try kalms they are a herbal tablet which just help your body relax. Good luck and i hope ive helped.
I have the same thing going on but ive been taking asid REDUCERS BUT its not helping. Also if i drink milk i throw irtback up curdled a lil help would be great
