If you are having these symptoms which ive had multiple times when taking a small pill, usually ones that arent in a capsule you need to be drinking more water when taking before and after to clear your throat of any mucus and never EVER take ut lying down. Too little water and not being up right will cause these symptoms and you should not come off the medication if they arise after doing these things, it osnt the pills falt. If it persists for 2 or more days seek medical attention. Also, try jumping up and down abit, sometimes it helps
I take Doxycycline for acne and the same thing has been happening this entire week and its not the first time its happened either. I just kept taking the pills each week because every morning it still hurts but isnt as bad. I just took one again in the middle of breakfast then I finished breakfast and had two glasses of water, nothing helps. Like TIffplays wrote I've also been burping a lot this week and it hurts so bad. I am supposed to take it twice a day but have been doing only one becuase of the pain.
I meant I kept taking them each day not week
THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING TO ME RIGHT NOW ALSO DOXYCYCLINE. I thought it would go away but its been two days not and I feel like I'm having mini heart attacks and throat tension every couple minutes.
Should be Pill-induced esophagitis :(
Crazy, im taking the same antibiotic and im feeling this way now... Im seeing a pattern with these medications... But wat should I do
I have the same issue. I am not sure what is happening but I experience hard burping and pain in my chest. Its almost esophageal. I am not sure but it has persisted for 3 das now. Let me know what you guys find out.
Greek yogurt is the only thing that helped me during this time. Clindamycin 600mg x3 per day for 1.5 months! Eat some Greek yogurt then take the pills, eat more Greek yogurt. 1 glass of water & don't lay down!
I took Clindamycin about an hour ago and have been having crushing chest pain, burning from my stomach up to my throat and feel like the pill is stuck. After reading into it, I discovered (a bit too late) how common esophagitis is with Clinda and doxycycline. I tried eating bread to force it down. I also made myself throw up. Neither provided any relief. What did provide some relief was a dose of Pepto Bismol Max, quickly drinking a full 16 oz of water and making myself burp (gross I know). I still feel the chest pain a bit and the feeling that something is stuck in my throat but it is about 5 times less intense. Anyone who can’t swallow definitely needs to go to a hospital but in cases like mine I recommend what i tried above. Good luck!
Same thing happened to me! I've been taking Doxycycline for acne every night. It usually is kinda hard to swallow but the other night it just got worse. I woke up at the middle of the night with chest pain. Its been 3 days and it hurts a lot when swallowing and burping (i've been burping a lot). Also hurts when I lie down or bend. Sometimes, my chest would just hurt randomly. There is also a feeling that something is lodged in my lower throat.
I have the same medicaine now and experiencing the same symptoms... did you find relief?
This is very helpful information! I swallowed a menstrual relief over the counter pain reliever yesterday and I still feel the sensation of it being lodged low in my throat close to my chest. Hope the sensation subsides soon, so uncomfortable.
I (and my daughter) occasionally have the same "stick pill" problem. I'm not sure, but suspect it is the capsule that is causing the problem (not the contents). The pills we have a problem with are the gel 2-piece, made by AlembicPh. These are blue (not that the color matters).
I'm having that same problem right now my chest is killing. weird thing is I have taken Doxycycline many times before and nothing like this ever happened before
that happened to me too. I had Doxycycline capsule yesterday night and I'm having chest pain till now.
