Drink lots of ginger & honey tea!!!!!!!!
I took a malaria tablet without any water one night and went straight to sleep. I woke up the next morning with the most horrific heartburn (I thought). What had happened is that because I swallowed the tablet without water and I lay down straight away, the tablet was dislodged in my oesophagus and began to dissolve causing serious inflamation. I couldn't eat a thing for 10 days and even swallowing water was extremely painful. As we were in Thailand at the time I couldnt get to a doctor. 8 days had passed and I was still in horrendous discomfort and kept waking up in the middle if the night with what felt like severe heartburn. My boyfriend had ordered me a fresh ginger and honey tea one morning and miraceously it had an instant relief to my lower throat. From then on that's all I drank and within 48 hours I was completely healed. Later I realised that ginger is a natural anti inflamortory which makes sense!!!
The exact same thing has happened to me with that same antibiotic. It has been days.
Wow.. I've been taking doxy the 100mgs dose for 6 months. I can tell you this medicine has its side effects. After about the first month of taking it I started to get bloated, not wanting to eat, and stomach cramps. I ended up discovering probiotics which helped with that issue. Id take the probiotic every once in awhile when i felt a rumbling in my tummy. Its been working for me. However last night before bed like usual I took my doxy. This time it got stuck in my throat. I've had a pill or two get stuck before. A couple swallows of my spit and it felt like down she went. Then off to bed. Woke up in the morning with chest pain and sore throat. I figured it was from the pill be lodge in a unusual place. That pain can last a week from it getting stuck. However this was different it started to feel like heart burn and I quickly thought the piill was still in my esophagus. Read some terrifying articles online about a doctor getting doxy stuck in his throat and it putting a hole in is throat. Which wasn't my problem since his symptoms took two weeks to show. Talked to a pharmacy about it and they also said the pill made it to your stomach. I think the pill just spent a little extra time in the espogus than normal. My espogus is having a reaction to it. I'm going to relax today and not eat any more spicy foods and see if I can sooth my throat back. I'll post what happens.
I also took a big antibiotic pill, with water, today at 22:30 and felt like it stuck in my throat. I left it so, hoping it will disolve a little and go on. But now is 3:30 and still have that feeling in my throat... I drank a lot of water, ate bread, jumped, even stood upside down... No result... I do not feel any heat or burn, just that bad taste... Have no idea what to do
This just happened to me this morning when I took a couple of vitamins. I drank water, milk, ate bread, and I just drank a cup of hot tea and it finally alleviated the terrible pain in my chest. Thank God!!
Same here. taking Doxyceline for a few months now for acne. This has happened twice to me. I'm gonna try a carbonated drink, because its been "stuck" for 15 hours . I can feel it in my chest and center of my back. I have a knot feeling in my stomach for a few weeks, no appetite, and loose stools. I thought it was because of some other stressors in my life, but now I think it may be from the antibiotic.
Hi all! Just found this tread after taking the same pill before bed and also suffering this stuck in my throat feeling. It's been 5 days and I'm still in pain. Did yours just go away eventually or did you need to see a doctor and about how long until I feel good eating again? Thanks so much !! X
I have had the exact same experience: Also Doxycycline. I had no trouble untill Wednesday night when I swallowed the pill without water. Woke up Thursday with an 'indigestion' feeling which hasn't gone away... Its now Saturday night...

hi, I'm Riley and I'm 14 years old female. I've been experiencing the same pains you have described. I had a slight head and chest cold and when I took some Night quill and thought it would help. at first it was fine so I went to school and by lunch when I took some of my DayQuil that I brought to school I started experiencing these sharp pains in the area right in the middle of my heart/chest area. now it's 8 hours later and it's gotten increasing worse. I've gotten to the point if I yell or sigh it'll burn in that area. is anyone else feeling these things?? I've been surfing the Internet for the past hour and it's all talking about heart attack things. which I know I dont have anything wrong with me. I'm a very healthy child and have had nothing wrong with me ever.
anyone who may be able to help please share. thanks.

I took a mucinex DM and I think it is stuck in my chest. I was diagnosed with it a week ago after rushing to the ER thinking it was a heart attack.... I also took some beano and zantac 75 and ate salad after taking the meds but it didn't go down. I then ate a candy bar and drank a bottle of water which caused it to move down but not all the way. And now I'm too full to drink and with reflux im not supposed to be really full...does anyone have any suggestions that don't involve me forcing myself to vomit?
Did your chest pains get better? My daughter has this problem. how did they treat you and how long did it take to go away?
any luck yet with your chest pains?
