My girlfriend is an amateur runner with unusually narrow feet (especially the ankles). Having been fitted by running shoe specialists in Australia, she is yet to find a pair of shoes that remain tight around the ankles.
Narrow fitting shoes are exceptionally difficult to find in Australia so we are probably going to have to rfesort to buying through the 'net.
Can anyone recommend your choice of narrow fitting shoes (US size 9)? Her previous pairs have been Mizuno.

Has she tried the heel slip way of tying shoes? You can find diagrams on the runners world site, and it does work.
I also have narrow feet and usually just order my running shoes in Narrow. Brooks, Asics, New Balance, and Nike all come in widths. If she's ordering online, I'm sure she can find them.

The lace trick really does work, so give that a try if she hasn't yet. Anyone in a running store will know the trick, and pictures will be much better than me trying to explain it. But pm me if you want my feeble excuse for an explanation.
