I have had some kidney problems during last month. I could not urinate well; I have felt some pain in abdominal area and my urinations were more frequent. Doctor said that it was some mild infection and that after medicament therapy will be ok. And he was right. My question is concerning another patient I talked to while I was waiting in hospital. He said that he had a so called floating kidney, but since I was called, he did not have time to explain that condition to me. What is floating kidney?
Floating kidney is kidney condition also called nephroptosis. It is a situation where kidney is movable, not stable in his position. This is more emphasized when the patient stands. This condition probably happens because of connective tissue that does not perform its function properly. It is interesting that doctors do not recommend operation if the patient does not complain of any problems, pain, discomfort. In past time, this condition was always solved with surgical method.
