Yesterday I was at my ear doctor, and was told that I have fluid in middle ear. I got some antibiotics and pain killer and was sent home without explanation. At first I thought that she is wrong but then I talked to some colleagues at work and become convinced that such thing can exist. But what does it mean when person has fluid in middle ear?
Fluid in middle ear usually means that person is suffering form inflammation in middle ear. That is why you got antibiotics. The middle ear is very sensitive structure, and is rich in nerves and that is why you were in pain. Because of this pain you got pain killers. In your case it is probably small inflammation. When inflammatory process becomes worse, antibiotics, alone, can not help. In those cases further treatment is needed.
