Well it has been 9 days since the treatment and it was equivalent to a peeling:
I went in, they put levulan (20%HCL) on my lip and we waited 40 minutes for it to soak in, then I went under the light machine for 15 minutes. (I listened to the flaming lips while there - Har).
I hid from the sun for 48 hours and started peeling gently for the next 3-4 days.
My lip did look better for a week, but the fordyce spots did come back by the end of the week, and my lip feels dry again.
I have pictures of my lip and don't mind showing / sharing, just PM me. Additionally, please let me know if there is another website that seems more promising to connect with others or share treatment options via PM as this one strips the links I try posting.

You should see a dermatologist about this! the reason why treatment for these spots have been slow to develop is because people don't see a medical expert such as a derma!!!
I've tried hyfrecator / electrodessication treatments to zap the spots. After zapping, the spots are less visible, but they are still there. It basically kills the oil trapped in the gland, but it only removes the top layer and not the entire gland so the spots return. This treatment is temporary (obviously) and I have it done every 6 months. Unfortunately, it's the only treamtment that temporarily makes the spots on the lips less visible. But it is quite painful, although the derma can put a numbing cream on it first.
There is NO permanent treatment for this. People need to seek medical help by a dermatologist in order for dermas and surgeons to take these spots more seriously!
I also tried the pulse dye laser / VBeam and the procedure did NOTHING for the spots. The spots are still there and the laser only made my lips look worse. I don't know of anyone who has tried the CO2 laser. Another dermatologist that the microlaser peel might remove the spots but I am skeptical.
I wish I had better news but people with these spots need to seek medical help!

Hey blue23! Thanks for ur response! yep im agree with you, I already went to the dermatologist and he told me that 80% of the population have fordyce, some of them less visible than the others, and all the info we already know. Im totally sure that we know more about this condition than they do, and its comprehensible cause obviously they are more interested in finding the cure for disseases like cancer or the fatal ones than this one. but they labs and dr. dont realize that we are a huge market, its similar to hairloss its absolutly normal but non one want to be bold right? same with this spots. But i dont know why theres is non attempt to help all the people with this condition. I also send an email to Prof. Norbert Paulla asking if he offer a treatment for this condition and his secretary response to me Yes in deed they have on but is with the micro punch technique so imagine thta treatment in ur lips i think its too agressive ohh and by the way he is in Germany.
As I said the only possible effective treatment right now is co2 laser, and micro punch excison.

Hi - thanks for your reply! I agree with the derma who said that most of the population have them. I notice them on other people and I can recognize them because I have them, but for a lot of people the spots are very small and seem to blend with their lips and face so the spots are hardly noticeable. Unfortunately for people like us, the spots are more prominent and there's absolutely NOTHING normal about the way they appear on the lips, contrary to the common sentiment that doctors express about these spots being normal. Anyhow, thanks for letting me know that you reached out to doctors. I feel as if the more people seek help, then dermatologists will realize there is a market, like you said, for treatment of these spots. I have written to medical journals and prominent organizations for dermatologists about these spots, trying to spread awareness. Hope you do the same!

hi - yes I tried the same hyfrecator treatment (and with the same dr). The treatment seemed to have worked for some of the spots last year (I had one spot in a cluster of spots removed with that treatment and it made the cluster smaller so the cluster itself was less unsightly- to be more specific) and I was pleased with the outcome. This year, as the spots (in the same cluster) have multiplied, it seems the treatment is not as effective. I have a cluster of spots and it's becoming increasingly difficult to target each one and I am reluctant to treat the entire cluster. I opt to only target one or two spots for fear of the lengthy recovery time.
It's difficult to explain the exact outcome. These spots seem to have a life of their own and the hyfrecator treatment is a trial and error. The outcome will really depend upon how big and deep the gland is (in the epidermis), and if the spots are protruding or if they are only visible but deep in the skin. For me this year, I'm a bit disappointed, not with the doctor who performed the treatment because he is very precise, but more with the fact that these spots continue to progress and the hyfrecrator treatment is not a good enough technology to target the glands.
I will continue to use the treatment for standalone spots (meaning the spot is not a part of a cluster of spots) but I am reluctant to use it on clusters. In all honesty, I don't think the hyfrecator treatment really does anything significant to the spots. I think it's more psychological because it gives us hope that there some (even if it's superficial) treatment to make them less visible.

hi guys, I'm a 20 year old female and I have been researching Fordyce spots off and on for a year or two now. I noticed I had them when I was 17 or maybe 18 I can't remember exactly but, It wasn't too long ago. I first noticed them on my genitals and was unsure to what they were. I knew it wasn't sexually related because I had not been with anybody other than my boyfriend, who has been my only partner (ever) and we have been together for 4 years, so I knew he wasn't the cause. I began to wonder if it was some sort of skin condition or if it was completely normal which I found out they were Fordyce spots and I talked to him about it which he didn't even notice them until I told him about it, which he then proceeded to tell me he didn't care if I had them. Although he did not care, I did. So I went and searched for a cure which I read about all kinds of products and treatments that claimed to get rid of them but, the result always ended the same. The spots always came back even with the lazier treatments, which even surprised me. I never bothered trying any treatments because most of the reviews always said this product did not work or my spots come back in a week or two or a month. So I figured I didn't have them that bad and my boyfriend doesn't care so I shouldn't worry even if they aren't pretty.... I had been keeping my eye on my spots though and they have seemed to have gotten worse but, there was nothing I could do so I ignored it, until a few months ago before my birthday I was looking at my lips in the mirror doing my makeup and that's when I got freaked out, they moved to my lips so I begin to do research again and the results were the same, nothing worked just pretty much everything I had found before.
during the time I wasn't researching fordyce spots I actually was doing a different type of research on health and nutrition. I have a heart problem called tachycardia which is rapid and non-rhythmic beating of the heart. The actual cause of this is unknown but, it can be triggered by certain things I eat or drink like caffeine or particular foods. So I actually decided to cut out all processed foods like breads, grains, McDonalds anything like that. All I could have was fruit, veggies, meats, nuts, and organic juices, organic milk, and of course water. When I was doing this I noticed my spots were actually going away (this is before they appeared on my lips) NOT only were the spots going away my unfortunate back acne was too, I felt very energetic, my tachycardia wasn't acting up, and I lost 15 pounds ( I was 145 and I got down to 130) without hardly any exercising, I've never really been that active. This was kinda hard to do because I had to resist cookies and pasta lol but, I went on vacation in march and blew most of my hard work to a million pieces. I gained 5 pounds back and my back acne and fordyce spots came back with revenge along with my tachycardia. D:
Today I had enough of all these problems so I decided to research what I needed exactly and why I needed it to be healthy and to do a lil more research on fordyce spots because mine seem to be getting worse, which actually lead me to this thread (and sorry this is so freakin long! D; ) But I decided to research on vitamins which we all know they are important but, I wanted to know WHY they were so important and what were there roles in helping our body. So I looked up vitamin A a stumbled upon this information. This is something important that you guys should look into, I'm not some crazy person and im not someone to try to get your money or lie to you. THIS is what I found. Vitamin A is something called retinoic acid which, appears to maintain normal skin health by switching on genes and differentiating keratinocytes (immature skin cells) into mature epidermal cells. It is used in treatment of acne, the most prescribed retinoid drug is 13-cis retinoic acid (isotretinoin). It reduces the size and secretion of the sebaceous glands. Although it is known that 40 mg of isotretinoin will break down to an equivalent of 10 mg of ATRA ( AKA Tretinoin) — the mechanism of action of the drug remains unknown and is a matter of some controversy. Isotretinoin reduces bacterial numbers in both the ducts and skin surface. This is thought to be a result of the reduction in sebum, a nutrient source for the bacteria. Isotretinoin reduces inflammation via inhibition of chemotactic responses of monocytes and neutrophils. Isotretinoin also has been shown to initiate remodeling of the sebaceous glands; triggering changes in gene expression that selectively induce apoptosis (which is death or fragmentation of a cell).Isotretinoin is a teratogen (abnormalities of physiological development.) with a number of potential side-effects.
also we already know what causes the spots, but what cause the glads to over produce? its almost the same as finding out what makes your acne come out. for some people its greasy food, for others its wheat. there could be something your taking in daily that can cause these glads to over produce or it can be you're not getting enough of something. A lot of the food we eat today contain a lot of sugar, processed chemicals, and artificial flavors, dyes, and scents. Unknowingly people eat these without realizing what these chemicals are doing to our body. REFINED SUGAR, CORN SYRUP, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP , HYDROGENATED OILS, VERITABLE OIL, MSG (also known by many other names) CAFFEINE, and ASPARTAME are extremely harmful to you. they are honestly the worst thing you can put into your system. they can cause all kinds of problems for example, hair loss, acne, obesity (that's an obvious one), high blood pressure, strokes, digestive problems, the list goes on and on really. Also Breads are bad for you too because they immediately turn into sugar in your body which can cause blood sugar problems and such. These can probably even be part or the cause of Fordyce spots or at least making the condition worse because when I went on my health mission which I'm back on, my spots were going away (I was on it for a month before vacation). just taking the things I listed out of your diet can greatly improve your health and more then likely lose some weight doing that too. Also adding healthy oils like organic coconut oil to tea or cook your food in can actually help fordyce spots. The reason the jojoba oil did not work is because its being applied to the surface which masks the area in more oil thus making it worse. the oils cannot escape the skin on the lips and putting more oil on top is not going to help it, it will just smother the area more, absorbing the oils making it more oily. I believe if taken internally it would have better benefits because it allows the skin to breath while the problem is taken care of internally rather externally ( that is my theory about the jojoba oil anyway don't quote me on it). Coconut oil is one of the most beneficial oils out there. really its benefits are almost endless. for example its great to improve the skins health, it can reduce cellulite or get rid of it depending on how bad it is, its good for hair and nails, and so on. I have also found information that if coconut oil is taken internally can possibly cure or get rid of the spots for a while (i haven't done too much research on this yet but, I might try it out myself along with my diet). I could go on and on about this but I have written a LOT lol and im sure you guys are very tired of reading. If you decided to do what I'm doing let me know and I will tell you everything I know. If you guys also want me to tell you my progress with my fordyce spots on my new diet and additional coconut oil I will gladly post updates for you. also I have a theory that if you amp up your vitamin A intake it might help your spots but its just a theory. If I find any useful information regarding spots I will post it up.

Hello
I can treat fordyce spots of the mouth …
would like to see some pictures first …
or come in for a free appointment/consultation
could treat with either a CO2 laser or an electrosurgical instrument …
depends upon size of the problem …
hope that helps
best wishes.
Note: If more people go to treat the spots instead trying home remedies its gonna be matter of time for the Doctors to find the precise solution for this condition.
Please try to post more often!
Im gonna quit smoking maybe they vanish just a lil bit.

I found this article so i want to share it with u guys
The intake of Vitamin A has to be Under Medical Supervision
fordyce spots remedy
Vitamin A has been shown to be powerful in the remedy for fordyce spots. Higher dosages, as considerably as 6000% RDA (300,000 IU) have been shown to greatly decrease the look of fordyce spots in a couple of weeks. This high dosage need to only be utilised for 3 to four weeks, then lowered to 150,000 IU for a few months if essential. Vitamin A reduces the size of the sebaceous glands, which is why it is also occasionally employed to treat acne. It is essential, however, to use natural vitamin A, such as from fish liver oil, as less side effects are reported.
If any indicators of overdose such as frequent headaches and sickness take place, vitamin A should be stopped, or the dose lowered. Isotretinoin (sold as accutane) is a prescription drug employed for the treament of serious acne, which might also be benefical to fordyce spots.
Dark brown or purple spots on the scrotum, shaft, and head characterized by a rough texture can be treated with salicylic acid, benzol peroxide, green tea masks, and other acne lotions. It is believed that the drying out effect of these topical creams reduces the look of the spots. Even though the fordyce will remain, making use of treatment options such as these can remove the dark brown look of the spots.
But if it does not get much better go see a Dr. no huge deal to have it removed by Vaporising laser therapies such as CO2 laseror electro desiccation have been employed with some accomplishment in diminishing the appearance of this condition if they are of cosmetic concern. Even so, most physicians think about this a standard physiological phenomenon and advise against remedy. There are anecdotal reports that the spots can be reduced in size by following a low-carb dairy-totally free diet plan. Sebaceous glands are sensitive to diet-induced insulin spikes, and ensuing hormonal cascades, thus a diet that limits insulin production may let the spots to shrink in size. There are studies showing carbohydrate-restriction can minimize acne, yet another disorder involving enlarged and over-active sebum glands. Inclusion of cod liver oil in the diet program is an additional method that is been suggested, nonetheless this has not been clinically tested. Cod liver oil consists of retinol, vitamin D, and omega three fatty acids, substances that may possibly aid regulate sebocyte differentiation and decrease inflammation.
