Few days ago I noticed something weird. It seems to me that my breasts are producing milk. This is weird because I am not breast feeding. Someone told me that what I have is probably Galactorrhea. What do you think?

Galactorrhea is a condition when a woman's breast makes milk even though she is not breast feeding a baby. The milk may come from one or both breasts and it may leak with no stimulation. Also, it may leak only when the breasts are touched. If the fluid coming from the breast is reddish, your doctor needs to check you for cancer. Most tumors that cause galactorrhea are not cancer and they can be treated with medicine or surgery. Galactorrhea has many causes and some of them are: hormones, antidepressants, blood pressure medicines, herbs such as nettle, fennel, blessed thistle, anise, street drugs such as marijuana and opiates. Hormone imbalance, tumors (especially tumors of the pituitary gland) which is in the brain can also cause galactorrhea. There are some things that you can do that can be helpful. Doing very frequent breast self-exams, on daily basis or stimulation of the breast during sexual activity can help. The best thing for you is to go to your doctor to see what your condition is.
