Two months ago I had my gall bladder removed.
A few weeks later I went back to my doctor and she informed me that I have Splenic Veins collaterals on CT.
What does that mean? I seem not to understand why and if this is serius,
can somebody help me?
Thanks,
Midy.
I can't give you the complete answer because this really is something that your doctor should explained to you a lot better, or even try to tell you what it means at all - so for the most important part, if and how dangerous this is, I think you will have to consult the doctor. But, collateral veins form when body gets a signal that one particular area is not getting enough blood circulation, and splenic vein is the one that supplies your abdomen with blood. So this all might be reaction to gallbladder removal, but, the newly formed veins and small blood vessels are not as good as the old ones and that is why they might be dangerous - they are much more fragile.
