I also had Hida with high fractions at 70%. I also abnormal slow ingestion of the ensure took over half hour to pass through stomach. I have had issues for 2 years now with intermittent episode range from stomach ach, cramping, to just kill me now abdominal pain depends on the episode or what I have eaten. Certain Foods immediately have horrible diarrhea like salads and steak. Last year also had ultra sound and CT scan. Found I have mild enlarged liver. There was moderate level billrubins present in blood and urine samples. Indications of inflammation having high Sed rate. However none of this is alarming enough for anything to be done and left with shrug. I get pamphlets for IBS why I have bad tummy ache advised to avoid trigger foods to loose weight and come back 3 months if I'm still having problems.
Either way I don't believe Hida scan is accurate at finding the issue when it's liquid boost pass easily through won't cause issue to irritate it enough to react. Not only that there got to be varriable changes to digesting foods. And configure the break down process of what you are eating like the five food group. Each one has different compounds needed to digest changing what is absorbed or needs to pass through each track. Any how! I going to complain some more, have enough to support my own findings convience him to take it out.

I had an ejection rate of 96 % with stomach cramps as well as arm and back pain and many fast trips to the bathroom (diarrhea) Monday i had surgery to remove gallbladder went in at 7 am was home by 11 am same day. As the medication war off the first thing i noticed was my arm pain was gone !!! First time in a year !! 4 days in i am still eating light no fat meals with minimal gas and bloating but no severe stomach cramps . Will slowly introduce foods to see how they react , remember at this point your liver has to adjust to do the job of both so take it easy and eat wisely . Also when you have surgery they fill your insides with air and require you walk for 15 min every hour to relieve this i suggest more walking like 20 to 30 min . It took me 3 days to get rid of it and i walked a lot . Will update as i progress

I know this is an older post but if anyone sees this I could use some info on the topic. I have an ejection fraction rate or 89% been in pain... does anyone have information on doctors or surgeons doing research on hyperkinetic (overactive gallbladders) I have a surgeon willing to take mine out but I'm high risk because of prior surgeries and an crohn's disease.

To glowdoc105493

Hi glowdoc!
Thank you(!!) for sharing this information.
Question for you: You mention you 'have even seen the biliary ducts within the liver dilate with gallbladder contraction indicating that the bile is flowing backwards." Is it possible this flowing backwards bile back up into the stomach somehow, and/or might be the cause of some stomach acid issues? Maybe GERD, Acid Reflux, or even LPR?
Thank you for any information you might be able to provide.

Best regards

I had major gallbladder pains and ended up in the ER. Referred me to a Gastro doc who sent me for HIDA scan, they stopped the test early because the results were something they hadn’t seen before. Doc told me i had a hyper functioning gallbladder and referred me to a surgeon for removal. Surgeon said he couldn’t guarantee the pains to stop if he removed gallbladder so I kept it. I figured out that if I ate greasy or fatty foods is when the pains started so I no longer get extra meat on my pholly cheese steak subs :(

I havent had a flare up in a while. I tend to just try to watch the quantity of food I eat and tend to eat more chicken than beef these days.

Has anyone in the state of Michigan found a Dr that is versed in this? In the last 3+ months, I have been to the ER twice and multiple Dr's appointments. The first time the diagnosis was pancreatitis, ultrasound was normal. Less than a month later, lipase spiked again with another bout of pancreatitis. CT scan negative. Surgeon referral and she ordered HIDA scan....95% ejection fraction. She said nothing wrong with my gallbladder despite radiologist report that results indicative of hyperkenetic gallbladder, and suggested that as a diagnosis IF it matched my symptoms. Saw a 2nd surgeon today and he says 95% is great! and wants me to have a MRCP (MRI of my bile and pancreatic ducts). He does not think removal is necessary. I have lost 30 pounds, am nauseous most of the time, have nasty diarrhea/soft stools, and pretty much feel like c**p 60% of the time. Any suggestions?

Went through GB surgery yrs ago then started having same systems. My ejection fraction in my bile duct was high. My sphincter of oddi was also dysfunctional...they said causing the high EF. Kept getting sphincter dilated and would work for less and less periods of time. Finally, agreed to let them take out the sphincter and reroute to large intestine. But, they rerouted too close to pancreatic duct and bile would reflux into pancreatic duct...now have chronic pancreatitis. Finally told me I have Biliary Dyskenesia. All I can say is beware...when they fix one thing it can cause other things to screw up. Research like crazy before you let them do anything. I opted to stay away from Dr's...only when necessary. I continue to have very painful attacks but try to handle with herbs and some regular meds. They still do not understand everything!!!

Good to hear. Was told today my EF is 100% and too high. They want to do an upper endoscopy before surgery. This has been going on for 3 weeks and pain bloating cramping and nausea with some diharreha after eating. I’m so sick of this.

My daughter had this test thank God. She had a 95% ejection rate. She had trouble for at least 8 years prior to her new Gastro suggesting it. She had bad nausea and cramps and vomited often. They chalked it up to allergies and she was restricted in what she could eat. Her new Gastro strongly suggested having it taken out. She did and has not felt this good in 8 years. It is just so irritating that it took this long to find out.
