I know of it, have been dealing with an 80% ejection rate, no stomach/gallbladder discomfort; but frequent bowl movements in the am. I do not have a solution. the only positive test I had was for lactose intolerance. I am now on a lactose free diet, but I am not hopeful that is the solution. I don't want to go the route of surgery, either, since I experience no pain. Went for a 3nd opinion after 1st GI md offered referral to surgeon.

I suspect so, as I had h-pylori when this all started.

Hi I know this forum is over a year old but I'm so glad that there are people out there like me. i have been dealing with lots of pain in my up abdomen all across at times feeling like I'm having a heart attack I'm 26 this stated when I was 19 I have had countless tests and countless trips to the ER I had a HIDA scan and US done last year US showed minimal sludge but they said was probably from where I had just been pregnant HIDA scan showed I was functioning at 96% my symptoms just keep getting worse and worse upper abdominal pain, constant belching, feeling full constantly, and the list goes on and on I found out about this huperkinetic gb right after my HIDA scan so I pushed to see a surgeon which he basically just laughed at me when I mentioned it so I gave up just decided to stop fighting but the symptoms just got worse so my primary care dr said let's send you to another surgeon so I went to see her three weeks ago she said there's not enough fact to prove such a thing as an overactive gb but she said let's take it out see if you get relief and if it doesn't work we will send you to duke or Cleveland Clinic. So I'm schedule may 29th for a diagnostic laproscopy with possible cholesystectomy Which she said means were doing a cholesystectomy because she doubts she will see any thing that's causing the issue that they would not have seen on one of the other million tests I have had done I'm just praying this fixes it I have been like this too long I have a wonderful husband who has stood by me through all of this and 3 beautiful babies and a family at this point who pretty much think it's all in my head and make fun of me but I know it's not. I'm 26 I'm ready to start feeling 26

Most of the research that I came across specified that anything 80% or higher is hyperkinetic, and 65% or higher was defined as possibly hyperkinetic in one of the studies.

I know that feeling of people thinking it's in your head. If you google hyperkinetic gallbladder, there are some, but not many, studies done. However, even though there aren't many, in all of the studies, there was a statistically significant amount of people positively affected after having a "hyperkinetic" gallbladder removed. Good luck

What has ever come of some of you? I have been in extreme pain after eating for abou . 10-12 weeks now. I also have an appt. With a GI doctor but can't get in for another 2 months! I can't wait that long. The pain is too extreme. I never want to eat cuz I know what will happen. My ejection fraction was 88%. No one told me that wsd too high. Did any of you have your gallbladder removed? Did it help? Thanks!

I've had the "lump/rock" feeling, too, bordering on sharp pain, just below my ribcage on the right side, often radiating around to the right side of my back, for at least four years. It's constant and I have not noticed changes in intensity relative to food intake. I've described the feeling to my doctors as feeling like I have a tennis or golf ball inserted just under my right rib cage—not really true pain, although once-in-awhile it increases to being moderate sharp pain.

A few years ago I finally decided to have my doctor check it out. He called for an ultrasound, which looked okay. Then he called for a CT scan, which also looked okay.

Nine months or so prior to seeing him, I had had my first-ever colonoscopy, which didn't go real well. I was suspecting that some damage may have been done during the colonoscopy. But my doctor dismissed that as the possible cause of my upper abdominal "golf ball" discomfort.

After the two okay-looking scans, my doctor (a D.O.) didn't know what else to do and said he could refer me to a gastroenterologist in a city 460 miles away, because "…there aren't any good ones in town." At that point, I decided just to move on and see if the symptoms would go away on their own.

Flash forward three years, and the "golf ball" feeling symptoms had only gotten worse.

With symptoms getting a bit worse, and starting to worry a bit about cancer, I decided to resume trying to solve the "Great Golf Ball Mystery."

A month ago, I went to a new M.D. in the same clinic (my earlier doctor had left his practice). She immediately zeroed in on the gallbladder, and called for a new ultrasound.

This time it showed some possible irregularities inside the gallbladder. Not sure of that, she then referred me to surgeon in the same clinic. The surgeon also zeroed in on the gallbladder. She called for a HIDA scan, an endoscopy, and a colonoscopy.

Got the HIDA results from her yesterday. My ejection fraction is 99 percent. She said she will do surgery to remove my gallbladder at my earliest convenience, using a "minimally invasive" procedure of some sort. She still wants me to follow through on the colonoscopy (I'm due anyway) and the endoscopy.

The endoscopy will be my third in the past 9 months. A day after last Thanksgiving, I began burping up large blood clots, went to the emergency room at the local hospital, and had two endoscopies over a period of 18 hours (there was too much blood in my stomach during the first endoscopy for the scope to detect the source of the bleeding). The second one, after an overnight stay in the hospital, showed that "fissures" in my lower esophagus were bleeding, caused by the Xarelto blood thinner I had been put on after major knee surgery a week earlier, November 18, 2014. Apparently, the fissures already were there, but the Xarelto thinned the blood enough to cause the fissures to leak blood into my stomach. I've not burped up blood clots since being taken off Xarelto. The present surgeon now wants the new (third) endoscopy done to see how the fissures in the esophagus are looking, which seems reasonable to me.

I am very pleased that someone has finally, with confidence, solved the Great Golf Ball Mystery. Of course, while I am optimistic, I won't know for certain until after the surgery.

I AM HAVING THE SAME SYSTOM YOU DESCRIPTION AND HAS BEEN TOLD I NEED TO HAVE MY GALLBLADDER REMOVE. MY SCAN WAS AN 86%. HOW DID YOU HANDLE THE SITUITION?

Your gallbladder is working too good and not leaving enough bile in the gallbladder. It is ejecting it too much. I have a doctor taking mine out in 2 weeks. I finally got some answers. Over working gallbladder at anything over 85% is not good. Get a new doctor if you cant get answers. Took me

Yes. Mine 95%. Finally got a doctor that told me high is also just as bad as low. Took me years to get a doctor to listen to me!

Hi I am a 16 yr old and I just had my gallbladder removed yesterday! When I had my hida scan mine was pumping 99% but I will tell you even though I only had surgery yesterday I have already felt a lot of relief I can actually eat normal and not get sick and honestly the pain isn't as bad I recommend you get yours removed because my doctor told me that all the over pumping ones are usually the worst and the most diseased! Hopefully this helps a bit

Hi, I just saw this post and wanted to add some info, in case it helps someone in the future.
So I had a high ejection rate - something like +65% in 2011. I was very nauseated most days but that was compounded by untreated celiac and gasteroparesis - so the gluten was making everything bad but the gastroparesis would allow all the extra bile to sit in my tummy making me sick.

** I found "GAVISON" tabs helped as they are different than tums. They helped coat the tummy and esophagus to help reduce irritation. I also found that at the advice of my MD, taking 5 fish oil pills every day for a year helped a ton. It's a lot of fish oil but it helped and fish oil can't hurt....I actually took 10 pills every day for a year and then 5 every day there after. It seemed to help me - at least for a few years.

Then after +2 yrs of improvement (symptoms didn't 100% but a lot better) I had another HIDA in 2014 and had a normal rate.

Then in 2015 I had another HIDA - just to check - and it was low at 21% but I didn't feel all that terrible. Certainly better than I had felt in 2011. As of today I have no plans on having anything removed....they can't put it back :)

**My MD had a theory that hyperdynamic - a high ejection rate - is a precursor to a hypodynamic gallbladder. He believes that the hyper is like the gallbladders way of compensating ...somehow. I didn't really understand the logic, just that in his experience he has seen a 'few' hyper gallbladders and he told me that with in 5-10 yrs they all became hypo and were taken out. However, he also said that not all hypo gallbladders cause discomfort so it is possible to live with a hypo gallbladder His only advice for a hyper is to either take it out now or take a lot of fish oil and eat a very healthy diet to try to 'save it' but it just his personal thought. He has never seen one 'saved'.

He also said that it isn't uncommon for ejection rates to go up and down so in my case, since I have no real change in symptoms in the last year (still not normal GI track but I am happy) I have no intention of having it out anytime soon...probably not at all unless there is a major change. I'll just have it checked every year or so via HIDA which can be expensive but for me that is better than having it out.

He also said that progesterone has an impact on the gallbladder - slows it I believe?

Hope this helps someone some day.

I can so empathize with many of you! I started having these "episodes" several months ago. The first one was so bad, my husband called 911. I was vomiting for nearly 3 hours, sweating profusely (the fireman thought I just took a shower!), dehydrated (obviously), pain in my belly, and just plain weak from all the havoc my body was in! They took me to the ER and did blood work, Xray, & CT Scan. The only thing it showed was a high white count. I was good for a couple of months, but then the "episodes" returned. With each new episode, I had to have more and more medication to stop the pain and vomiting. They did more Xrays and another CT Scan. I went to a Gastroenterologist and she ordered an Ultrasound and a Gastric Emptying Test. All came back normal! Then she finally scheduled a HidaScan. When she called me with the results, she said I am referring you to a surgeon. Well, I just saw the doctor and he said I have a Hyperactive Gallbladder with an EJ rate of 96%. I said, "ok, what does that mean"? He said that it's working much too fast and needs to come out. Boy, I could have jumped for joy! Finally, some sort of diagnosis. I have surgery scheduled in 5 days (he only does surgery on Mondays), and I can't wait!!! He said they do it Lapro-Scopic now, so recovery goes really well. The biggest restriction is NO heavy/fatty foods. Works for me...I could lose some more weight anyway :-) Just the thought of not having that pain or vomiting is wonderful. I hope you all find some sort of answers that will help you too!

I am having severe gastric problems and emergency room said I have gerds desease. They didn't even tell me what it was and referred me immediately to gastrologist surgeon. My pain is burning stabbing pain right below my breastbone bone to right above my belly button. Very weak and lost of fatique. I couldn't get into gastrologist dr for 2 months. My symptons all point to epidermal ulcers or esophagus inflsmation. I have had acid reflux and slight heartburn but that is due to gerds desease. I had to search the Internet to even know what gerds is. I just had hida scan for gallbladder this past Monday October 12, 2015. My symptons don't even point to gallbladder. My pain is in center of abdomen. Gallbladder pain is normally to your right from what I read. 4 weeks ago I was given sucralfate from emergency room which I read is for ulcers or inflamed esophagus. After 1 week of taking this 4 times a day my pain went away. That was 3 weeks ago. However after the hida scan I felt slight nausea and indigestion. By the time I got home I had severe diarrhea for 4 days and very very week. Last 3 days my burning pain is back heartburn and indigestion back and found what looks like blood in stool. I called the gastrologist nurse after first 2 days and she said everyone is different. Everything I read said no after affects from hida scan. Nurse said everyone is different. I asked if they had results. She had them. Said no obstructions and 86% fracture rate. I asked her what thst meant and she said that's just the percentage your gallbladder is working. She acted like it was all normal. I thought the higher up.to 100 percent was good. Then I got a letter today that said 86% fracture and I may come into the office to discuss. Like u can really just walk in and talk to dr without appt....I looked up of what fracture percentages and read that others had there gallbladder removed with this fraction. I was shocked and I've read and read and just get more confused and get extreme anxiety the more I read. I have a endoscopy scheduled and colonoscopy on Oct 28th. So is it my gallbladder, ulcers, pain due from the gerds disease , something else or all 3. I have left a message with gastro nurse. I am very upset...confused snd scared. i am waiting for her call.
Did you have your gallbladder removed and if you did are you lots better?

I read that gallbladder have been removed for fracture rate of 86%. What did you do and are you better? What kind of symptoms have you had? I've been battling gastrologist problembs for over a year and took.it was from stress until 3 months ago when the agonizing burning pain started off and on and then more frequent and also had acid reflex....if I have to live feeling like this I would rather not.
