Hi, I have had parathyroid surgery for high calcium and ever surgery I started having tingling in my hands and feet. Afterwards it spread throughout my body. I also experienced tingling on the right side of my face and also some dizziness. What could be the problem? Is there something I could do about it?? Please help.
Parathyroid surgery can often result in low calciums .That can cause generalized tingling, even something called 'hungry bone syndrome'. I believe that is what you are experiencing and I think you should have this checked out by your doc. He’ll probably know what to do about it. Good luck
Hello ,My mom has had the same problem since her sugery and no one seems to know why.Doctors have the time wont give her the time of day .It seems as if they think it is all in her head .My mom had surgery a while a go and has had tingling and numbness all over and they seem to think that its all in her head and that she is over reacting o.O .......If we find anything helpfull I will be sure to fill you in :-D And please do the same :-D
I had this tingling sensation on my left side and my lips and fingertips. I was told to take more calcium, magnesium and vitamin D. It has worked very well for me and now I only have the tingling when I haven't taken my calcium like I was told to. See my whole story on my site thymeinmygarden.com
I have been having the same problem...I am now five days post op and thought I would be feeling better by now...tingling, chest and shoulder pains and body aches. Also, I have insomnia as an added bonus...yeah...have not slept more than twenty hours since the surgery...anyone else have this problem?
Tingling is a sign of low calcium. You should take calcium at the first sign. You can have some serious problems if your calcium remains too low. Your surgeon should have warned you about this. If you can't swallow the large pills so soon after surgery, try chewables. I even found gummy calcium squares and they are quite good. I think the other problems will go away as well. Some things just take time.
