I am a type 2 diabetic and I have a question about my medication.  I am prescribed glicazide 40 mg twice a day and liraglutide injection once a day.  I am wondering if I should take these two medications together or not?  Is it safe to or should I take them a different times of the day?  I didn't know if I could get a diabetic hypo from taking gliclazide and liraglutide together.  I didn't know if anyone else out there could help me out and let me know if they would clash together or not.  Has anyone taken the two medications together?  I like to take all my medication at one time during the day so I don't end up forgetting to take it all together.  Sometimes I forget the second dosage of medication since I take most all of it in the morning.  I then don't think of the other dosage until it's too late.  Any help in this problem will be appreciated.

You are asking about the combination of using glicazide twice a day and having your liraglutide injection every day as well.  Your liraglutide will cover your overall blood glucose control over 24 hours.  This will keep you covered the entire time you need to have control.  The glicazide is more than likely to help around meal times when your sugar tends to go high?  The timing for your glicazide will need to correspond to your meal times.  It is best when taken with meals so that you obtain the best effect.  The pills will help prevent hyperglycemia during these times.  I would suggest to you to take your liraglutide in the morning, since you will remember to take it at that time.  You then need to remember to take a glicazide before your lunch and before your dinner meal.  You need to figure out something that will help you remember.

I have recently been put on Victoza alone, while testing my bloiid twice a day. I have an appt. with my doc in a few days. I am convinced the apptr. Will show that my sugars are still too high and I will need to add half a gliucazide twice a day to augment. I took Metfirmin and Glucazide previously.
