Anybody have updates on the topic after they saw a doctor? I am experiencing similar symptoms. My fingers on both hands will turn greyish or blue and lasts for about 2-3 days at a time. Sometimes its the whole finger, other times its just the knuckles.  I can't seem to figure out what triggers it, although it's started in the colder months but it doesn't happen every time I am cold, etc. When I run warm water over my hands that seems to help temporarily. I only have slight pain but not constantly, they just feel "weird" but not numb. I am 25 and have been taking Birth Control pills (Kariva) for about 6 years now. I am going to discontinue taking them as I feel they may contribute. I read about Raynauds and BC pills. I've had tests recently for thyroid, vitamin / iron deficiency, and all came back normal.  I haven't seen a doctor about this specific issue but it really freaks me out. Its discouraging to see that many doctors are stumped by this. Anyone have updates?

You are SO RIGHT! Whilst at dancing last night my wife pointed out that the palms of my hands looked dirty and grey. I DDID have on a new pair of dark blue levis. Can the answer be this simple? Well done!!!

My daughter's hands looked just like the picture. Black knuckles for about ten days. Turned out that she had a friend with the same thing. As silly as it sounds she had new jeans and the dye had come off on the back of her hands. My daughter scrubbed and found her case was the same as her friends. Again it sounds silly but worth a try.

I am so glad to have found others who suffer similar symptoms. Both my hands turn a "slate" grey colour (almost like they have been rubbed over with the side of a pencil) and the colour can be almost shiny on the underside of the tips of my fingers. It usually starts at my knuckles which turn a more blackish grey. The palm around the under side of my thumb area also goes shiny grey. The colour does seem to return to normal upon washing under warm water with soap but can then sometimes revert back again. It happens at random times - I can go for as long as 4 months without another episode and the first episode happened only a year ago. I am 34.  I get no pain/tingling/other symptoms and feel generally well.

Have been under the care of a consultant and she's done all sorts of checks on my heart function / connective tissue diseases  etc and all seems clear so far. I am left with a probable diagnosis of "Reynauds Phenomonen" but the consultant says it's not a perfect fit for this. Follow up scheduled for March.

I'm otherwise reasonably healthy with a normal normal weight. I take cimitidine for interstitial cystitis but otherwise no real problems.

This just happened to my 23 year old daughter yesterday in her right hand. I freaked out, but she wouldn't go to the doctor because it didn't hurt or anything, but that hand did feel colder than the left hand.  She just came out of the shower, so she wasn't cold as one of the posts suggested, but she has been under some stress lately which one person posted as a possibility.  The color in her hand returned to nearly normal within about 30 minutes. She didn't have any pain, just the gray/bluish skin on her right hand.  The left hand was normal.  She's using the Mirena IUD for birth control which release hormone into her system someone like birth control pills, but it's supposed to be safer.  However, she started smoking a few months ago which apparently increases your chances of stroke when taking birth control.  A post mentioned thyroid, and hypothyroidism runs in my family.  My daughter is tested for it every year, but hasn't had a physical yet this year.  Someone else mentioned low iron, which I do have so I'm going to give her iron today and have her see our physician.  Going to look up Raynaud's and Vasospasm as well.  Thank you for all of your posts -- it's been very helpful.  I'll write back if our physician gives her a diagnosis.

I don't know about the jeans theory -- doesn't seem viable to me, and my daughter doesn't have any new jeans.

CHECK INTO A CONDITION KNOWN AS BENIGN ACROCYANOSIS...My son has the same thing "bluish gray coloring on mainly his hands but sometime also his feet". The severity of it comes and goes as far as how noticeable it is. As his parents, this recently came to our attention as it looked like his hands where dirty when sitting for dinner. We made a doctor's appointment and took him in a few days later. Ironically his doctor just returned a few days earlier from a seminar that addressed this particular issue!!! He was diagnosed with "Benign Acrocyanosis" and was told there is no particular treatment and other than the funny color, he shouldn't have any problems with it. As a precaution he had blood work done to rule out anything else that could be the cause and have yet to hear the results. Will post additionally if anything shows on the blood work. Good luck and go see your doctor and ask about this condition!

Oh my gosh! I have the same thing going on right now in my left hand. When it first happend 4 days ago I thought maybe I had a blot clot cutting off my circulation in my hand. I went to the ER and the dr. Said it could be Renolds Phenomenom but he's not sure. Iam going for two medical tedts next week for it. One to test for nerve and muscle damage that is responsible for sensing pain and the other is for blood flow. I'll keep u posted and iam relieved iam not the only one out here with the same strange issue :(
