Hi all , my hands also look dead all the time. l have been researching this & I believe the main cause of this is poor circulation to the extremities . I believe this to be common in thin, malnourished people or those with iron deficiency or an anaemia . - I am very thin , not eat red meat & have a very poor diet .

This happens to my hands too. Grayish palms and black around knuckles and under nails. I too have ic and I sometimes notice it happens when I eat something acidic. Didn't know if it was a coincidence or not

Did you ever figure out what was wrong. I am having exact symptoms.

I have the exact same thing.  It will happen in one or sometimes both of my hands.  I can't figure out what triggers it.  I also have hashimotos disease (hypothyroid).  It tends to happen more often in the winter than other months.  My hands are not cold to the touch.  I went to 3 doctors, including a vascular surgeon.  They have never seen it either and couldn't figure it out  (Ryanuads was ruled out).  It has to be soemthing effecting the periphial circulatory system (that's my guess).  Anyone a smoker or former smoker with this?

Apparently no doctor has ever seen in before, but there are alot of us that its happening to!  If anyone gets a good answer, please post.

Organic blackstrap molasses, organic liver, both get rid of anemia

I just started my birth control again this month and my hands also turned grey when I was on my period. All the bloodwork came back normal for me too. So weird!

My 12 year old daughter has this exact thing. It is very weird and we have no more answers than what I have seen here. She has a lot of allergies and takes Zyrtec, Flonase and occasionally Singulair. Other than that she is healthy. She did have low iron when she was much younger but we have no reason to believe she does now. That was the only possible connection I saw. She does not experience any change of sensation when her hands get like this. Just sharing to see if there are any other connections out there.

My 16 year old son has this. It has gone on recently for about two months. I do notice that when he raises a hand above his heart it goes back to normal color. The lower hand stays gray/black (especially knuckles). He does not go out in the cold. I agree it looks as if they are dead. He has autism and this makes him rub his fingers a lot. He can't tell me how his hands feel. He will shake one at times too. So I think they bother him. Drs have been no help so far. His physical therapist says to take him to a neurologist, but the appt is two months away! Has any one had any luck in what this means or what to do

I have had this for the first time twice in the last week. Not cold, no heart or circulation problems.

Crazy that this is so common. It's not jeans for me and it is accompanied by a weakness in my arms. The doctors have done all sorts of heart tests and blood work but don't know. I was having heart problems on Ritalin and that's when this started. But the docs still thought it was weird. Heart improved after quitting Ritalin but still get the mysterious dark hands.

Another thank you for posting about the jeans!!! I was surprised to see my grey hand today and went to the internet to do some research. I have been wearing brand new, never washed, super-dark Target jeggings and after scrubbing my hand a few minutes ago it's already almost back to normal! Thanks again :)
