Had GL Prostate surgery 1 week ago, doing real good. Still burns a bit when I pee, but just a little, still taking antibotics and the pills that make you pee orange. Real turned on, but read one of the replies and have decided to wait. another week. Have not had any pain since coming home from the hospital over night. Been one week today urine stream not real strong but getting better. I am 74 yrs old urge to pee is regular but strong, sleep the whole night. Drinking water all day long with meals and while sitting around. Catheter came out the day after surgery with no pain or discomfort. Took a pill for bladder spams about 45 mins before. Was terrified of the pain I thought I have after the surgery. I have had an erection so that working good, for 74 yrs.

I'm not sure I know how to get answers here but here goes: How can they cut (or disintegrate) away part of your prostrate without cuttng through the urethra? Is the ureathra just not that substatial in the first place or it just grows back? Could this be where the bleeding comes from is the incision that is in the ureathra?

I had the green light laser surgery 10 days ago. Only had a catheter in one night and the doc had me take it out the next morning. Had a problem urinating the first day but the doc gave me some sample catheters and taught me how to empty my own bladder. 4 times a day right at first then 3 and now, 9 days later, none. I can now empty my bladder without the catheter. no burning or bleeding at all. Plus I can pee like I was 16 again. (I'm 68) The surgery was a great success!

I had green light surgery two full weeks ago and the worse part was to come home with the catheter for (5) days before they would remove. My stream has improved significantly and the bladder spasms after emptying my bladder has subsided BUT still uncomfortable a bit. MY CONCERN is when I begin urination some blood comes out every time BUT not a lot. I did try ejaculation and it worked fine BUT NO fluids during the orgasm?? Is that normal, does it correct itself in time to have semen flow out? I am concerned.

Great news!! What about the intermittent bleeding two weeks now after the surgery? My low is now excellent, BUT concerned on the sexual activity side with NO fluids during orgasm? Very strange indeed. When will the blood stop

Yes, the urethra is damaged to get access to the prostate, but it heals remarkably quickly, easily within 24 hours.

Like you, just about the only information I have had has come from this site. The doctors just say "it will get better with time"! No standard notes on what to expect, or when to seek further medical attention. If I have doubts, I phone.

I had GL one month ago. My stream is full but I'm still incontinent. I'm getting erections once again and enjoying sexual relations. Doctor said to "go for it" and we have. Do have retrograde ejaculation but the orgasm is just as strong. With a strong stream I can actually stand up and go to the bathroom -- so I feel like more of a man now. My catheter came out 24 hours later and I haven't needed it once.

I had Green light laser treatment on the 15th Sep 17, after 3 days of catheter I had it removed and immediately noticed a great improvement in passing urine, although its still a little tender Its getting better by the day and the frequency has improved too . well happy with the results, Surgeon did not mention a time scale for sexual activity and personally I'm going to wait until I feel 100% in myself

I too had green light on sept 15 2017. Had cath out next day. Not much pain and occasional blood. For 9 days later I do get blood if I squeeze or strain for number 2. I will. It try ejactulation for at least another week. Scared after seeing other guys too soon responses. I am peeing every 30 min or so but I would rather be that way than not being able to go. So far so good. Reason for having mine done was bph and continuous uti

Flomax side effect for some people is retrograde ejaculation. You are ejaculating into your bladder instead of out the penis. I shifted to Alfuzosin, no retrograde ejaculation side effect.

I only had the cath in only 24 hours and I can pee like I'm 16 again. Its been 10 days and I have some normal intermittent bleeding but very little. I do have frequency but they claim that can take up to 2 months for the bladder to get back its elasticity. Sounds like an infection must be interfering with recovery or your surgeon wasn't aggressive enough meaning he didn't remove enough tissue. I do recommend taking it easy for a week or so because I walked 6 miles on my third day and paid the price of pain.
