Had sex one week after green light laser surgery for prostate. Have I injured myself?

I have been reading some of the comments about GLL and I had it done on 02/08/12, this is just 3 days later and I can't believe how wonderful it is to pee a lot. I have no pain or blood in my urine. I do drink a lot, in the first day when I had the cathater I produced over 7.5 litres of urine.

I just love the results.

YES. AND IT HURTS. BUT IT IS GETTING BETTER.

I had the green light on Wednesday 3/21/2012. I have had no pain, very very little blood, great stream. The entire process was far easier than I expected after reading all the horror stories on here. Evertbodys different, what one person experiences is not relitive to all. Now I want to get off the avodart and flowmax. I want an alternative without side effects. Research suggests that a combination of zinc, saw grass palmetto and stinging nettles are at least as effective as the combination of prescription drugs, without. Side effects. Anyone?

I had the surgical TURP 20 years ago when I was 52. Don't recall a lot of problems. Had misrowave at 69. Very painful in office procedure. Did not last. Just had Green Light at 71, 3 days ago. Still tired, but think this is from the pain killer I had to have in hospital. Blood is gone after 2 days. Starting to urinate better after 3 days. Cannot go to gym or long walks for 2 weeks. Said I could have sex after 2 days but am afraid to try at this time.

I had the turp 4 years ago and had to repeat the surgery just two weeks ago and they did the greenlight. To be honest I haven't had the problems that several have been talking about here. I have had minimal blood, urine flow is great. I was only wondering about Climbing back on the horse (so to speak) No one told me when so I just guessed and took a solo ride and it was great and that was after a week. I think to sum up is that everyone is different, if you have a question ask your doctor.

I had GLL for a 160 gram prostate on June 19, 2012. Stayed overnightin the hospital. Allowed to go home when blood in urine with catheter was only dark pink. Think I had a wet (red) dream last night, so there is some sexual function. Now on the 22nd, the amount of blood is quite reduced with occassional clots going in to the catheter bag. Walking and sleepting and taking it easy at 76 years. My urologist team said the surgery went very well and I am waiting till Monday the 25th to have the catheter removed. No pain at all. Have great expectations but will try to follow 6 week recovery go slow approach before back to tennis. Getting a a urologist with 180 watt laser who had much experience gives me great confidence.

It amazes me that specialists (Uroligists ) have such a cavalier additude Concerning Pre and Post operative instructions. I had noo idea about the retrograde-ejaculation. A few days after my Biopsy,, 1st step,even though no enlargement of prostate, I masturbated, and it was blood red. I freaked out, called the DR. he called back and said it was normal and should clear up after 9-12 times. Thanks for the warning. Then he said next step was lazer surgery, he may have said something about retrograde ejaculation, but I don't remember the term. I had to go back ,I started bleeding after everything had cleared up. They looked and said they couldn't see any problem, put in a catheter,and had me come back the next day to remove it. The Nurse Jerked , and I'm talking hard,removing the catheter. Which I think may have caused the muscle damage, I asked him about the retrograde ejaculation. He said it may get better or it may not, turned around and left the room. I was 53 at the time single, and to me this was a BIG DEAL!! They then billed me for another out patient surgery co-pay because of my visit post surgery with bleeding.$150.00 .I am still looking for answers so far with no luck!

I had laser therapy last friday when should I resume having sex?

Had the laser surgery friday the 24th, and my dr. is telling me not to do any activity fro at least 2 weeks and then just moderate. does't even wanting me to drive a car. he kept a catheter in me until today 8/28
I've had to pee once and the stream was a little better but still had some blood come out initially per the doc that would be normal going to see how i feel by next tuesday to see if i can go to work sit at a desk and do some lecturing. I'm opting to see if i can get someone to do it for me just one more week

I had green light surgery two month and i have a bad burning when i pee which i do about 20 time a day

Had green light on Monday.  I was worried for nothing because it was a piece of cake.  I did have to get used to wearing a catheter until today when it was removed.  That was a minor annoyance, but glad to have it out.  Had a little blood on day one, but it cleared up quickly.  No pain.  Today with catheter removed I am peeing on my own, improved stream, although doc says it will take up to 3 months for maximum benefit.  A little blood earlier today but now gone.

The only issues during the last 3 days were constipation, and an occasional intense desire to take a leak even with the catheter.  On one occasion I couldn't hold it and some urine came out avoiding the catheter, and somewhat painfully.  Doc said that's a normal spasm.  Again, the 3 days waiting for the cath removal were not pleasant, but not a big deal.

My doc seemed to know the parameters for success.  Ie, if my prostate were a bit smaller I could have had the simpler laser process in the office.  But mine was 84 grams, and he said I'd have more success with green light. 

I've put up with this condition for at least 5 years.  If I'd know this procedure was available and so easy, I would have had it sooner.

 

DO NOT HAVE GREENLIGHT if you want to have a normal sex lifer afterwards!

 

Five weeks post-op I'm still bleeding during urination, dribbling blood after bowel movements, random jabbing pains, burning urethra after urination, pain in bladder valve muscle during last part of urination.

AND having the joys (not!!) of retrograde ejaculation.  Odds of getting this "complication" depends on how your surgeon does the procedure.  The Greenlight promo brochure states 30% of patients will experience retro ejaculation for up to three months post-op but that usually goes away.  Various other web sites about the procedure have that same info. I'm five weeks post op, am experiencing the retro thing accompanied by significant pain in the final parts of the retro ejaculation, and today the surgeon told me that the way he does the procedure the retro thing is 100% guaranteed and worse yet it will be permanent.  Direct quote: permanent retro ejaculation is the price you paid to have a better stream.Don't know why he does it this way but he didn't make it clear before the procedure.  Had he done so I would have found a different surgeon.  I'm only 57 and my sex life is now over thanks to this procedure.  Extremely distressed by the outcome of the procedure - easily the worst decision I've ever made in my life.

I want to add my comments re my enlarged prostate dilemma. I will make it short as I just lost a very informative message I wrote for you fellow sufferers. I had this since about 25. Now scheduled for green light, but these testimonials convinced me not to have it. Happy to say my naturopath is best help with a remedy this provides mild relief. I also add boiling water to fresh squeezed lemon juice and honey, soothes pain, and it's alubricant, morning and night. I do the same with cranberries, just bring them to the boil, and strain, It's a disinfectant, against infection. I'm scheduled for green light in 3-4 months,but afraid my kidneys wiill give out sooner, but seeing these comments has totally deterred me. The green light specialist in my recent consult with him gave me free samples of Rapaflow. One pill - the result of this was that I woke up nest porning with renewed tinnitus hat I had succcessfully eliminated by hard work and diet, something that was a nightmare for me ten years ago. No more Rapaflow. It did relax me and increase my flow however. It may be okay for you. There's more, the second day after I took it, I was turned on so I ejaculated, and found i was impotent! This has never happened to me. I'm 70, and all that ever happened was 3 years ago at onset of severe prostate difficulty, I had a brief lapse in ability to get a rise. Right now I will go ahead with vaporizing the stone in my bladder but go with the natural treatment otherwise. I'm not giviing up my potency. I figure the doctor giving me that pill was a bad omen, just a small indication of how much worse this this could get if I do the green light with him. He told me it was 16% more selective, and this manufacturer's claim was supposed to encourage me, a formula for assurance, don't believe it. I wish you all the best of quality life and healing! But of course guys, we are just supposed to grin and put up with it, it's understood that our suffering doesn't count for much. Male suffering is not a popular subject. When did you ever read a best seller about male suffering?

I had the green light five months ago and I could not be more satisfied. I do not have retrograde ejaculation and I do not get up at night any more. I would advise it for anyone who has a prostate problem.

I had mine done 10 days ago.  I had some issues including a re-cath.  3 things I would have done before the surgery.  Start stool softeners two days before surgery.  Done a pre-surgery cleansing as if I were getting a colonoscopy.   Had sex the night before - it is going to be awhile.
