Hello! Few days ago I started feeling some bad cramps in my stomach. I thought it must have been something bad I ate. Yet they continued during the night and I couldn’t sleep. In the morning I went to see the doctor. He used stethoscope to hear something in my stomach, felt my stomach a bit and said it is just constipation and gave me something for it. When I returned home it got worse and I started vomiting. My husband took me to another doctor who said that I had a wrong diagnosis with ileus. He sent me to be X-rayed and concluded that it is ileus indeed. I had a NG tube inserted and that relieved my vomiting. Now I am at home and I still don’t have my normal stool. Will I have to go to the nasogastric suction again?
Hi! First of all if you are still not feeling well go to your doctor and consult him again. I know that nasogastric suction is a terrible experience and that you are scared to go through it again but maybe you have to. No one can tell you that except your doctor though. I must also warn you not to eat anything until your intestines start functioning normally again, although I guess your doctor already told you this.

I agree that you must talk to your doctor if you are not feeling well. If the nasogastric suction didn’t help you might even need surgery. As far as your wrong diagnosis is concerned I must tell you that you shouldn’t blame the doctor since your symptoms were inconclusive. Ileus usually occurs in patients who had abdominal surgery or hernia or peritonitis or pancreatitis, so she didn’t suspect of it in your case.
