Im a nurse and a massage therapist (damaging my wrists for sure by continuing to massage with osteoarthritis ie bone on bone). I had ganglion (top of wrist) cysts as a teen- this is not the same. I too have a growth like projection on the thumb-wrist side , I will soon see a hand specialist (who already ruled out carpal tunnel), for cortisone injections- this new lump is painful to touch and burns with hand use. Im wondering of it is an inflammation where the tendons and muscles attach to the bone. I need to find a new job but having a hard time. In the meantime, ice, Voltarin, splints, NOT massaging.
Oh!! I just mashed it and it "popped" a little tender but overall relief, after more googling i found out that yes, is can be a ganglion on the side of the wrist also. They call these bible cysts because you can try smashing them with a book edge and the might pop and resorb, if not a simple excision can remove them. (the book is cheaper) but Im still going to request cortisone for the osteoarthritis.

This morning I noticed the same thing your describing. It feel like large pointy bone spur and I can't close my hand. The pain is a sharp pain even on the inside of my hand when I close it.
I have a painless lump on my wrist below my pinkie finger. I think it is a bone, do you?
I have the same thing, did you find out what it is and any cure for it ??
I have the same thing going on in my wrist as you did when you were pregnant. Mine started when I was pregnant too! Now I'm 5 months postpartum and its getting really bad. It's like there's a bone in my wrist that's getting bigger and bigger on the side where my thumb connects to my wrist. Did you ever find out what it is? I feel like something to do with my pregnancy started it.
My doctor said I had a Boss on my hands from the MCP joint. Which is a big bump which means they were given too much flexibility growing up and it started to swell so the bones began to develop a bump to compensate for the internal pressure. Not much you can do about it but it can start to feel better if you manage it.
Thank u for sharing Simone
I have had many ganglion cysts and they do finally disappear on their own but may take years. NEVER NEVER hit with a big book. I did this and doctor was horrified. You can rupture tension and cause very serious damage. Not worth risk.
Did you ever find out? Mine started two weeks postpartum and has been there two months now. It aches
What did you find out Julie
i had a similar problem with my hand but purchased another hand at the second hand shop. perfect now
