It always amazes me to read the skeptics write about how this diet can't be real and that all the testimonials are fake, bla bla bla. I have been on this diet for 4 cycles (2+ months) and have lost 35lbs. The pounds are falling of my body. Is it hard? No. Do you get tired of eating mostly the same stuff? Heck yeah? But when I get on that scale every day and every day it seems like another pound came off, who cares. I guess I was lucky that I personally witnessed someone do this diet just 2 months before I did and saw the results for my own eyes. Personally I have never been on any other diet before so I don't have anything to compare it to but I know it works. People complain about it not being healthy. Sure it's a lot of high protein stuff, but at least it does have fruit & veggies unlike Akins. Also this is not a Diet for life diet. Use this to lose the pounds you need and then move to a healthier balanced diet to maintain your weight. I am doing one more cycle and will have lost a total of 45 lbs. not bad for 3 months work.

I am so glad to hear this diet is working. My husband and I started this diet Monday. On Thursday we weighed in and he had lost 4 pounds and I had lost 2. I think he may have lost more weight since he consumes more sugar than I do and probably was a system shock when he gave it up cold turkey. It is a very simple diet to follow since it is all laid out for you. Seems like atkins a bit but with yummy fruit and veggies and a sandwich every other week, if you desire. It is very easy to pack my husband's lunches. Seems to be working for us!!

I started this diet February 6, 2007 and I have lost 15 pounds. Granted, I have a LOT of weight to lose (about 100 pounds). I'm sure a good deal of my loss so far is water weight.
As far as I can tell, there is no special magic to this diet. It's essentially what most nutritionists recommend - fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins - EXCEPT there is a lot less starchy carbs. There is the occasional bread, beans and oatmeal, but pretty much no rice, pasta, potatoes, corn, bread or cereal. And lots of water.
The key is portions. I am eating a lot less food overall, and better food. I havent been as strict about it as I should have been. If there was something that I really, really wanted, I had a few bites of it. But, only a few. Then I walked away, and the urge subsided quickly. Your mileage may vary.
Plus there is the three day cheat period.
There is probably something in the way the meals are arranged that makes it work metabolically, so it's perfect for people who just want someone to tell them what to eat and not have to worry about it. For people who are really into food and cooking, it may not be the best choice because there's not a lot that is "gourmet" about the diet.
If you are motivated by results and can handle the idea of a meal consisting of a bowl of green beans and cottage cheese, this might work for you. It was certainly worth the $39 for me personally.
In short: Low carbs, low fat and smaller portions - 4 times a day. I dont think it's controversial. I question whether it's so much of a "diet" as opposed to whether my prior eating habits were just bad (large portions, higher carb and higher fat - fewer fruits and vegetables).

why are all the endorsement posts either a guest or their 1st or 2nd post? There's something unusual about all ringing endorsements from the wifes and husbands on the diets together.

I have tried the diet last year and lost about 10# the first week. I am not very dedicated and really only needed to lose about 10#. It is hard to stay true blue to. But if you are one of those people who can really stay strict I highly recommend it. I am getting ready to do it again, this time I would like to lose about 15#. I'll let you know how I make out.

I started this diet on January 1st, 2007. I have lost a total of 24 lbs. I think the diet is extremely successful as long as you are willing to stay dedicated, not cheat and do the exercise. I started out with just a 30 minute walk each day and by the end of the first 11 days, I lost 11lbs. I have now increased my exercise to include 30 minutes of cardio/fat burning per day and I use several circuit machines for toning three days a week. I feel great and I really like how my body is changing. The most I've gained back on my "free" days is 2 lbs. It usually falls off pretty easily when I start back on the diet. The only thing I can say that I don't like about this diet is that there isn't much variety. I get pretty tired of chicken and lunch meats and nuts. I live for my frozen yogurt days! I recommend this diet to anyone who is looking to get back into shape and drop weight easily. My sister in law introduced me to this diet because she too has had great success with this diet.

I think if anything, what really works about this diet is that it is put in black and white for people. I'm sure if I planned four meals a day for you, and told you to adhere to it or else, you would lose weight. It's just genius to be capitalizing on what people aren't realizing here.
Please, plan four healthy meals for YOURSELVES each day and adhere to it............................... or else.

I am doing this diet again for the second time. The first was late last summer and things went well until it got cool outside and I started to bake again...
The first time I stayed on for only 2 cycles and lost ten pounds. Of course, I gained it all back again by not being disiplined! At my present weight, I have avoided clothes shopping and other fun activities that I miss. I still had the "id**t" site on my computer bookmark and was able to access it again with no problem. I'm on my 5th day (Fruit/Veggie Day), and EXCEPT for this day, I find this a very doable diet. Plus, I get to drink a glass of wine every day!
The main things I have to remember are:
Drink my water
Stop eating when I'm full
Start exercising again
When I was poking around on the "id**t" site, I noticed that they recently started a forum, but there is only about 88 members! I just joined today, hoping to get veggie prep ideas. I sure hope some of you come check it out and contribute! (Oops--gotta go pee again.) Hope to see you there!

Today completes the 11th day of the 2nd time I have done the id**t proof diet. I lost 6 lbs the first go round (had about 12 to lose) and I'm not sure how much I have lost this time. . . And while I really DO like the diet- an id**t you can NOT be... You really have to be prepared as far as having the right foods on hands and you can ONLY eat what is on the menu.
I really have not been too hungry on this diet and you only eat foods that you choose and you like. I would say overall it is worth the $40- if you think you will stick to it. Don't join & pay if you don't have will power or don't think you can stick to it. . . Take it one day at a time, drink lots of water, follow the plan and do something good for yourself. It's a good way to lose some weight. :-P

the tips emplyoed by all of these so called "diets" are all very similar, and common sense will lead you to many of the same choices if you sit and think about it. We all know to lose weight, do more activity (burns more calories) intake fewer calories and eat healthy foods. Here's a free idea for all...not a diet, but a lifestyle:
1) exercize 20-30 minutes each day
2) drink 2 liters of water throughout the day EVERY DAY, more if you do drink alcohol on a certain day (the best diuretic is adequate hydration)
3) avoid sugar, salt, alchohol, and processed foods (as the first 3 will make you retain water, and processed foods always contain high levels of sodium, and often corn syrup, not to mention all the preservatives)
4) drink 2-3 glasses of all natural, unsweetened cranberry juice each day (get it at you health food store-from concentrate, add water to about 1-2 oz to make a glass, add water to taste-warning, this will be rather sour)
5) drink 4-5 cups of decaf green tea each day throughout the day (all natural kind)
6) avoid processed, bleached flour-eat carbs, but only of the whole grain, unprocessed variety
7) eat natural foods--this means organic (if possible), unprocessed, whole foods, in small portions, five times per day. eat your largest meal at breakfast. keep grapes/berries and nuts on hand to snack.
don't waste your $$ on any of these diets, many of them simply create a seeming loss b/c they flush your system of retained water, as soon as you go back to your normal eating habits you "gain" the weight back, or, more truthfully, simply begin retaining water again...stop "dieting" and just learn to live a healthy lifestyle, incorporating the "bad" food if you miss it from time to time, but mostly eating a healthy diet daily, and forever--the weight will come off and stay gone!!
Best of luck to all.
and yes, I follow the above, but eat "bad foods" probably once or twice per week. I started the above lifestyle 1 and 1/2 years ago and lost 60 lbs in 5 months, and the weight has not come back!!

This diet, is for people who are lazy. Learn what you are doin, do research and create a plan that works for you. You're body requires more than 3 meals, yes. healthy meals. and they don't need to be from a book, watch your fat and calorie and carb intake, and learn how to portion your meals, and save yourself the 40 bucks. There is no need to get sucked into a diet that is all stuff you can do on your own. Why spend the money? Weight loss has a lot to do with your mind, train your mind to see that you're full, train it to have the energy to go to the gym. Its a mind game. PLAY IT!. There is no need for nay of this, and if you are sitting here online, enough time to find a site that sells a product of information that is easily learned.. perhaps that's your problem. Get off the couch, and GO TO THE GYM. And just so you don't think Im some bitc# rambling on, I recently have lost 73 pounds... and with no help form any stupid dieet plans. I eat right, I work out and i train my mind to do what i need to do. YOU CAN TOO... walk away from this bull.
