I have been in alot of pain and noticed some spotting last week so my midwife sent me to th ER. That is when they discovered the grapefruit sized cyste on my right ovary. when they told me they were just going to keep an eye on it I was upset. But when they told me how high the risk of miscarrige is if opereated in first trimester i had no choice but to agree. I am just concerned about it getting bigger. If anyone has any similar experiences please share! Thanks!

I went through the same thing back in 1999. I had my right tube and my right ovary removed when I was only about 8 ks. pregnant. The doctor said I had a few cyst and that my ovary had died inside of me. I was so scared and thought I was going to lose my baby.I went through emergency surgery and everything went so fast. Now my son is 7 years old and healthy as can be.Hope everything turned out good for you and the best of luck.

I had a stage 1a tumor removed when I was 16 weeks pregnant in 2006. I was told that because of the size of the tumor my baby would not make it full term if I left it in. My doctors told me there was only a 1 percent chance of the surgery causing me to go into labor and lose the baby. Of course nothing reassured me but the surgery was a success and luckily I chose an oncologist to do the surgery because the tumor turned out to be malignant. The doctors said that the risk in having surgery during pregnancy lies in the surgery causing premature labor and delivering a baby that would not survive out of the womb. If you do surgery to early the baby is not strong enough to with stand any kind of trauma in the abdominal area, and if you wait much longer than 17 or 18 weeks the surgery could cause premature labor and you might deliver a baby that only makes it for a few weeks out of utero, which no one wants to face. So 16 weeks is the most ideal time to have the surgery. Also, I was told I would lose my ovary but the surgeon was able to leave part of my ovary intacked and he told me I could still produce eggs with just part of an ovary. It was a terribly scary thing to go through but this risks are minimal and I now have a very healthy 14 month old. And a side note on the tumor my doctors told me that because the tumor was intacked and stayed that way through surgery and swabs of the surrounding organs and surfaces came back negative for cancer cells, I did not need to do chemo and that i should just see the oncologist for the next couple of years to make shure it did not resurface or cancer show up anywhere else.

i am 21 years old and 20 weeks pregnant i found i had a 3cm cyst when i was 15 weeks. although my cysts is rather small i am still scared of the fact that it will not go away on its own. yet my doctor said my baby is doing just fine and besides the cyst we are both really healthy. but i think all of these comments were very helpful to me i hope all goes well with everybody, and you have strong and healthy babies.

I am 9 weeks pregnant and just found out I have a 9.7cm cyst on my right ovary. The doctor wants to see me back at 12 weeks and discuss having surgery in the second trimester. People I've talked to do not seem very optimistic about my baby making it through the surgery. If anyone has had this surgery would you please contact me through email to answer a few questions like what the percentage of success is keeping the baby through this surgery. Any information about this would be greatly appreciated.

hi my names claire im only young myself im 17 and 5 months pregnant 4 weeks ago i had an operation to remove a 24cm cyst from my ovarie. they took away my right side fallopion tube. but the babys fine thank god. my advice to you is at the end of the day your doctor is wrong because if you decide to not have anymore children and then they decide to remove both your cysts and you cant have any more kids, your gonna regret it all through your life and you dont want that. so why not have another child i think you should. you sound lovely and i hope you write back to me xx

I too just found out that I have a cyst on my right ovary. I am currently 9 weeks pregnant. I have been having a lot of pain and have been cramping. My doctor wants to monitor the cyst and see if it gets any larger. He would like for me to remove the cyst sometime during the second trimester, because the risk of miscariage are less. I'm glad to see there are so many others who have had positive results. I too hope that my results will be as good.

I know this is a really old post but thought I could give some encouragement to anyone looking who is going through this. I found out at my 7 week appt. that I had a grapefruit sized cyst on my ovary. At 15 weeks I had major surgery to take it out. I was in the hospital for three days and off work for eight weeks. I went on to have a normal pregnancy/delivery and my son is now 2 years old. I was really nervous going into surgery but everything turned out just fine. By the way...the surgery was much more difficult than the labor/delivery so I felt it prepared me well for the pain!

Im 19 and when i was 12wks i found out i had a cyst. The doctor said it measured 27cm by 30cm. I wa sreally worried and had a hard time finding a doctor that would take me because my orignal doctor wouldnt since i was considered "high risk" Finally i went to presbitarian womens clinic on my next ultrasould when i was 16 wks the ultre sound technician found it to be only 20cm by 22cm the doctor called a couple of days later to say i woul;d need to have it removed and that i would be contacted soon to the when where and how im now 18wks and i am really nervouse. It's good to finally find something where other peoplke have went through the same thing and came out fine.

I am 25 years old. I am 19 weeks pregnant and was just told I have a golf ball size cyst/tumor on my left tube/ovary. The doctors want to do surgery right away since it wasn't present at my 12 week ultra sound, which seems to suggest that it is growing at a rapid pace. I am nervous about the affects this will have on my baby as well as the recovery process. I have a 19 month old already that I have to take care of. The doctors don't know anything about the cyst and said they won't until they biopsy it. I haven't even spoken to a doctor yet. My obgyn nurse called me yesterday to tell me. I have many worries, concerns and questions, but no doctor to ask! They are supposed to call me, and I know they are busy, but I hate being told something by a nurse and no follow up. I have never had problems with cysts that I've known of, so this really freaked me out until I have researched a little more and found it is more common than I thought. Thanks for all the posts friends! It has helped ease my mind considerably.
This may sound silly, but I've been having weird symptoms that I didn't experience with my first baby, which makes me think it has to do with the cyst.
First being, random stomach spasms (hard to explain) while moving around or straining my muscles too much. It occurs randomly, but frequently enough. It just feels like my stomach muscles are weak and almost non-existent. I have always been a pretty active and healthy person too. I have never felt weak like this before. Again, could be a normal pregnancy thing, but it didn't occur with my first.
Second being seriously blurred vision. I have a hard time focusing my eyes close up. I just got glasses for being near-sided a year ago, but never had issues reading or being on the computer. Lately, it's hard for me to focus for too long writing emails, reading etc. It's like the beginning of a migraine, but the full migraine never comes. Seeing double and blurred vision does make me sick, but I can stop and start feeling better keeping my eyes closed. Again, I can't imagine how this could or would have anything to do with a cyst, but you never know! I am no doctor!
Anyways, if anyone has insight on these issues, I would love to hear from you!
Thanks from the ever concerned friend
