I've had this low hum for 5 months now and have seen all sorts of specialists and nothing. I'm terribly depressed because I am so frightened not knowing what it is and am scared it's something very serious. For the first two months I thought it was something external so I ignored it but one night I plugged my left ear and it went away! That's when I knew it was me. But what? If I plug my right ear the hum or roar intensifies in my left ear for a few seconds when I take my finger out. Not sure then which is the affected one. If I plug both or even blow hard and hold for a few seconds it goes away too. But it always comes back. I've only had one or two days reprieve. I've also noticed after I drive and turn the engine off it's there pretty bad for a minute until it dies down but sounds more like a constant whine like metal grinding. Has anyone actually found what it is? I have this on top of my usual T high pitch. Mine also seems to be louder if I tilt my head back or when I lie in bed. If I look down it kinda dies off some. Answers would be nice if anyone's went away or something I am so scared as I live alone and haven't got anyone really to talk to about it and docs are over it. It's not the typical T with a high pitch but a low humming with almost a vibration pulse to it but it's not in time with my heartbeat. Tests come back normal. Please help. I'm losing on mind only because I don't know what it is. I can deal with annoying but I'm so scared it's something very wrong.
