Hi all,
Ive been suffering with the same symptoms for a week now, and tend to believe its purely anxiety related (been very anxious the past month) - anyways i read some advice on this thread and started with the magnesium supplements and its done wonders for me! Been sleeping well for 2 nights and hoping for a third now! :)
Well i have all of the above also since i was 16 i have had heart palps had one of them 24hr ecg things on when i was younger but nothing showed up. In the end got labeled with anxiety, classi think the best cure i have found is not sleeping on my side, propping up my pillows, accepting the fact that death is at my door and sleeping on it. i once got rushed to resus and had my heart restarted after redbull when i say restarted they pumped white sh*t in my veins. this shouldn't worry you though as my palpitation lasted 5 hours prior to this. also if you are having a heart palp and its worrying you. take a seat upright in through the nose like belly breathing , drink water and take the biggest breath you can conjure and hold that fella till your heart stops for a second. none of my heart palpitations last longer that 2 mins now. i should go see a doctor again really will let you all know the verdict.
I too have been experiencing the same symptoms. I have palpitations and wake up feeling like my heart stopping and I need to breathe. I had blood work, stress test for heart, echocardiogram, ENT, thyroid profile and hormone profile (I'm 50/female). I started noticing that the feelings were worse when I had caffeine or sugar too clise to bed time. I am a therapist.... so I knew this was not anxiety, even though my GP tried to ean this way. I am also trained in nursing. I have also been in a car accident 3 yrs ago... which resulted in increased amounts of ibuprofen/nsaids . I requested and finally had endoscopy. The result was GERD. I stopped eating 2 hours before bed...other than a light snack of nuts or toast if I'm hungry and take antacids. It stopped. I will sometimes do stupud things.... like last night I has cookies an hour before bed. I had the feeling on and off all night. I would suggest a food log, a symptom log and then compare. Take the results to your doctor. I never had any heartburn so I was surprised by the GERD diagnosis.
This is what I experience. Did you find any answers?
some times when iwas sleeping i feeel my heart shaked what is the reason
I'm having the same problems does anybody know what it is
How are you now? Did any of the further tests show anything? I am having similar problems :(
I felt like I was reading my own post! Only difference is I'm on Nadalol. I've had issues with this for 12 years. Certain things I eat make it worse. Gluten, dairy and sugar and sometimes meat. I'm really considering this has influence from the Thyroid and adrenals. I was also diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, but it has not progressed. I've read that hashimotos may be hard to detect with the standard test and may need some type of radiography test? (not ultrasound) It's very frustrating.
Don't rule out gluten sensitivity, those exact sme symptoms were mine until I stopped eating gluten
Mold! Mold makes this symptom.
No, these are not "anxiety attacks". It's from toxic mold which infests your intestinal tract and lungs.
Yes I agree with you. It's the mold causing you this suffering not anxiety and don't let the ignorant doctors say otherwise.I had exactly the same symptoms and I actually called emergency one time because it was very hard to breathe. The doctors were confused because they didn't find anything wrong with me everything came normal, my heart, blood sugar, blood pressure... Then I took a trip to hospital and well the doctor as usual said that it's just anxiety but deep down I knew it's not.
After a bit of research I found out it's mold or allergen exposure also Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) which is also usually caused by mold toxins. I found a few sources of mold in my apartment on the window and toilet. It grew because of the moisture and airtight rooms. I cleaned it with vinegar and try to ventilate rooms as much as possible now with ventilators and fans on. So check your house and see if there's mold growing anywhere. If no mold found then it might be allergen or some kind of irritant causing your body to react this way. Of course it might be something else aswell like heart or stomach problems or anemia or combination of them... but I would check the mold first. Good luck and stay healthy.

Okay after suffering for a whole month from shortness of breath, hypnic jerks during night, lightheadedness, fatigue, muscle weakness, headaches.., it finally stopped in January, I can actually sleep normally again.
There's some things that I stopped using/eating daily, which could of caused this annoying side effect/allergy.
I feel better now after stopping using these:
-Stopped eating and drinking Soy products completely
-Retinol for skin (Vitamin A), (try to cut out all extra vitamin A if you are using it)
-Hair loss product with natural herb ingredients
-Got rid of tooth infection that infected my tooth where nerve was removed
See if there is something that you use or eat that causes this. Try to stop using all the skin products, change shampoo, watch what you eat.... There is a big possibility that you are getting allergy from something or just your body doesn't like something.
Also, don't let your doctors tell you that this is anxiety or panic attack, it's not. Your body is trying to tell you something, listen carefully to what it's trying to tell.
I just wanted to share here and help you because I know this is not a fun experience at all in fact it's pretty scary and puts tons of stress on your body from all the sleepness nights.
Hope you all get well and stay healthy.

This sounds just like my story. I been going through this for years now. EKG, blood work, CT Scans all come back normal. Sleep study showed mild apnea, so I'm on CPAP and it's still happening. Was recently diagnosed with asthma and the inhaler or steroids don't seem to help. I don't know what else to do. My doctor is trying her best( bless her heart) to figure out what's going on with me. Being woke gasping for air and heart beating out your chest is very scary to say the least and feeling like your dying is the worst feeling ever. For me going to the hospital is very frustrating because they like to put it off as anxiety or panic attacks, when for us it's much more than that. Praying they figure out what's happening before it's too late. My doctor is sending me to see a Pulmonologist
I have been having the very same symptoms. Waking up as soon as I fatally asleep heart pounding shortness of breath. Really bad takes hours to feel normal again you say it was your thyroid?????
