I am a 22 year old female, non-smoker, social drinker (1-2 times a week). About 3 years ago I had an anxiety/panic attack in a movie theatre and went to the emergency room where I was given xanax. Since then I have seen several doctors, telling them symptoms (racing heart, dizzyness, loss of coordination) and they are all convinced it is anxiety. I was put on celexa daily with xanax as needed.
I was still vising the ER every couple months because even with the meds my heart would not stop racing. In some situations it would go up to 180 beats per minute and I was convinced I was dying. I was given thyroid, ekg, and deficiency tests, which all came back normal.
I decided that I didn't want to pay for the celexa anymore if I was still having the problems, so I stopped taking it about 2 months ago.
If I go out and drink my heart rate is high the whole next day, meds will not bring it down and it is very scary. I feel that I do not suffer from any anxiety symptoms until I start panicking that my heart is going too fast.
I am worried that something is wrong with my heart and if it beats this fast on a daily basis it will at some point give up and stop. I am planning on seeing a cardiologist and getting a monitor. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I had very very sever anxiaty and im 18, my heart rate is ALWAYS fast. sometimes its cause something is just bothering me and i need to talk it out. I recomend coucniling and they can teach you to breath proper and slow your heart rate down. as for medication its no good and i wouldnt take it. it makes you feel worse after.
