my daughter has just been discharged from inpt for the 3 rd time after a LEEP, the last time was the worse and she had lost so much blood she required a blood transfusion and had to have surgery immediately to stop the bleeding. the surgeon is the elite in this country. ( did not perform the original LEEP) specializing in uterine bleeding, says she has no idea why this happened, that it never happens.

I had the same issue of bleeding. I had the procedure and it was not to bad.
I had normal discharge for 3 weeks. Thought I was healing good. However, All helll broke loose when I hit 3 weeks I was bleeding so heavy the pads could not hold it! I went to er they were so confused by leep and I laid there for almost 2 hours. I lost so much blood I fainted and my count was down to 7. I literally could not stand without feeling faint. Ended up having a blood transfusion and I was in tears! So if you start bleeding don’t wait and demand the morsel! Once I fothe meds the bleeding stopped. Now I am scared that it will start again

My mother had a leer procedure and a d&c done. There were no complications it just took a bit longer since she was bleeding prior to the procedure????? She was released and went back to the nursing home. 2 hours later she was dead. Im living a nightmare as we speak. I believe the nursing home didn’t stop her blood thinners. And to make matters worse the home never notified the coroner about my mother’s death. No autopsy...and by the time the coroner tracked down my moms body the funeral home had already embalmed her. I am now taking legal action

I just had my leep two weeks ago, I have never seen so much blood from me. I had to go in a second time for the doctor to stop the bleeding. Today I woke up with the room spinning and cold sweets, not sure if this as anything to do with my leep.

I had my keep almost 4 weeks ago, my 4 week checkup is in 4 days. I had light bleeding after then started my period a few days later as expected. After that I had no bleeding for about a week and a half then it started again, just a little. I attributed it to picking up 5 gallon water bottles, 50 lb bags of feed and my canner full of water. However now I’m cramping and bleeding quite a bit heavier with clots about quarter size or a little bigger. It could be my period again although that would be more than a week early. No dizziness or anything so far. Should I be worried? If it stays the way it is can I just wait until my appointment or should I try to get in as soon as I get home (I’m on vacation)?

Hi I am hoping someone can provide me with some advice. I'm 28, never had children, have the mirana IUD and stopped getting my period. I had a leep biopsy done Jan 9th in the office. The doctor said everything went to plan and that I might experience some bleeding here and there. All was fine for a week then I started bleeding again. I went back 4 times to get cauterized. 2 times with silver nitrate and 2 with electrocauterization. The last electrocauterization seemed to work for 4 days and then I started hemorrhaging and went to the ER. They ran a whole bunch of tests and gave me an IV. all my labs came back normal- INR, platelets, Hemocrit of 40%. They couldn't understand this because I was losing so much blood but wasn't exhibiting any signs of distress. I saw the on call surgeon and they placed a suture and moncells, this was feb 18th. That seemed to work for about 4-5 days and then I was back to the hospital again severely bleeding again. I was admitted, put under anesthesia and a reparative surgery was done. The surgeon said that both blood vessels were sutured. another 4-5 days went by and I started bleeding again. Saw a different doctor for a second opinion, this was on March 3rd. she placed surgacell and vaginal packing and told me to come back the next day. Did so and then saw the surgeon for a followup the next Monday. surgeon advised me to see her every 4 days. at the last visit I didn't have bleeding but she placed moncells anyway. that was this past Monday. Its now Thursday, all the moncells came out, Ive started bleeding again (not as bad but still bright red, fresh blood) and I have sharp pains that feel like they are coming from my cervix. I have a followup tomorrow but Im at a loss. The doctors have told me they have done all that they can do and theyre just monitoring me. Im so frustrated and both physically and mentally exhausted form this whole ordeal. Does anyone have any insight as to why this is happening?? or What I can do to stop the bleeding?

I had severe bleeding non stop one week after my leep. Prior to that , there is a couple of big clot came out. Rushed to er and almost need a transfusion. They put a vagina patch in me and kept me in the hospital for observation if there are any major bleed. I was discharged the next day. Now at home, I got this PTSD that now i dun even dare to force myself too hard to pass urine or motion. Just now , one more blood clot came out. So scare and was wondering when is this agony going to end ...

I recently had a LEEP, about a week ago, and had no side effects or bleeding for the first few days. I spend the first day on bed rest, and avoided any strenuous activity in the following days. On the fourth day, a light pink, tissue-like "scab" came out while I was going to the bathroom. Two days later I started to bleed quite heavily so I went to the ER. The resident ER doctor took a look and said that there was no active bleed and to consider this like a heavy period. There was no more bleeding for the next day after this visit.

Two days later, I began to bleed very heavily with massive clots coming out of me. I soaked a maxi-pad every 5-10 minutes or so. I went to the ER and the ER doctors tried to suction out the blood to see where the blood was coming from and they were unsuccessful. By this time, I had lost quite a bit of blood as it was a steady flow and needed to get a second IV with the addition of some blood clotting medicine to slow the bleeding. The gynaecologist arrived and used a sponge to see if they could find the bleeder and applied pressure and Monsels to stop the bleeding. This worked for about 20 mintues until the bleeding started again. I was rushed to the OR becasue at this point I had lost so much blood and there was risk that I may need a blood transfusion. They put me under and stitched up the area and cauterized as well. The area that was bleeding was the LEEP site.

Overall, this was a very traumatic experience and I don't wish it upon anyone else. As this was during the Covid-19 crisis, I was alone the entire time. The nurses and Doctors at St. Pauls Hospital in Vancouver were wonderful. My recommendation to anyone going through the same thing is to go to the hospital right away and demand to see a Gynaecologist as soon as you can. I think all of the initial treatments could have been spared if they had called them initially, and this 10 hour ordeal could have been cut in half. My blood volume count went from 135 when I arrived to 95 by the time I left, so I'll need to consume lots of iron to get my blood level back to normal in about 2-3 weeks time.

Good luck to anyone else who is experiencing b complications post-LEEP. It is very unsettling, but you'll be ok if you seek medical attention right away!

I know this group hasn't been active for a while but I wanted to share my experience just far. I had the leep procedure April 18th 2022. I had very minimal bleeding and I felt great. On April 22 2022 I woke up in a pool of blood and passed a softball size clot at 3 am. By 6 am I had passed several egg size clots. I went to the er and after 4 hours of passing large dinner plate size clots, they scheduled me for surgery. As I was waiting to be pit on the schedule I went to the bathroom and passed 2 baby size clots at once and I passed out on the toilet. They found me 10 minutes later. Still unconscious and covered in blood and had to resuscitate me twice. I was rushed to the OR and they put in sutters and recauterized the leep site. I received 2 l of blood and im currently staying over night for observation. I am scared that I feel good because it happened so suddenly.. I highly recommend going in if you see large clots. This has easily been the scariest time in my life.

I also know this group hasn’t been active in awhile but I wanted to share my story as well. Had leep done 2 and a half weeks ago. Healing was going fine. Then I started walking and doing some stretches and the bleeding began. Especially when I pee. I called the doctor and spoke with on call doc last night on a Sunday. She said it didn’t sound like too much and it can happen. I will call when they open up this morning. Right now it’s like a full blown period. I’m nervous to even move.

Did you recover okay? Hope everything went smoothly after that. I’m so sorry you went through that. I’m in a similar situation now.
