My four year old son has been having a hard time breathing and his heart has been beating really fast.I called his Doctor but he cant be seen for another week :-( I was told if it gets worse to take him to the ER.I really do not want to go up there if I do not have to becase I have two other little kids and there are always bad , nasty germs floating around there. So I gess I was wondering if any one has gone through this?If so can you tell me what I chould do? %-)
Did you ever get an answer? I have a 5 year old girl who for the last 3 days has complained of her heart beating so fast. It felt like it was going to pop our of her chest and at one point she thought she was going to be sick. I called her pediatrian who had me take her pulse which was on the high end of normal. He told me to not allow her any caffiene and asked if she was on any cold neds. She was not. And said for me to monitor her pulse through out the day. if she were to wake and start immedialtely talking about her heart to call them, otherwise to monitor for the day and following up with him the next.

Scary stuff! So she is at school now, it is only 2.5 hrs. Her pulse was 100 this morning compared to the 135 last night. We will take again after school, in the late afternoon and evening and just keep a close eye on her. if it happnes again tongiht I am demanding we get into teh DR to get some blood drawn etc. She is only 5!

your child may be going through a panic attack which causes your heart to speed up. a simple solution to that is to have her run around a little bit because a panic attack is also cause when something frightens you and that is a sign that your body needs to run. so i hope this can help you

My 4-year old daughter has had her chest hurting and her heartbeat was over 170 per minute. When I took her to the doctor, he asked me if she took any meds, she did not, he sent me to the hospital for an EKG. Back to the doctor and nothing. Waited all day, they looked panicky but tried to tell me she took something. I'm still paying the doctor bills. She's had 2 other episodes. Today, she's as calm as can be, had a fever this morning and I gave her ibuprofen. It's the late afternoon and heart beat is over 180. She's in the airconditioning, not doing anything, not scared, not crying, just don't feel good. I don't think I would want her to run around, she's already tired of trying to breathe. I'm not sure what's wrong, and neither are the doctors.

I'm sorry to hear about that but that's not very normal. Do you think that you could get a second opinion from a doctor? I think that would be a good idea. What do you think?

Your kids may have heart arrhythmia--it can happen at any age. Its an electrical problem with your heart that causes your heart to beat faster than normal. The heart gives off extra electrical current that causes the heart to go haywire--causing the irregular heart beat--even when your heart is strong and healthy.

Check out heart arrhythmia on the web--check out symptoms--causes and prevention. It will give you a better understanding on how to handle your situation if this is a probability. These attacks can happen at any time--from rest time to when your exercising--bending over tends to bring them on.

If your child has another attack--try these things--make them cough, bear down(as if going to the bathroom) hold your breath, splash cold water on their face, rub their eyeball with pressure. These are vagal maneuvers that stop palpatations and/or fast heart beat. If the attacks don't stop quickly--and your childs heart rate gets near 200--take them to the er. It's not something that can wait a week for your family practitioner.

I have been living with this for years. It is managable, you just need the right info.

Ask your family practioner for a referral to a electrocardiologist just to be sure and safe.

The part about rubbing their eyeball with pressure--that scares me. What exactly do you need to do? How much pressure? That sounds very scary.

Hey, I used to be the little kid that had the fast heart rate. Everyone just let it go because I was a kid and running around, or "it's supposed to be fast when you run" so I didn't get diagnosed until I was 15. By the time we figured out it wasn't normal, we would rush to the ER to get it recorded on an EKG for diagnosing and it would convert back to normal. Finally I wore a 24 hour holter monitor and we caught it and was diagnosed with Supraventricular Tachycardia.

okay heres the deal moms n dads..

rapid heart beat is common with high fevers.. the fast heart beat allows the heart to pump blood through the body to help it cool down while the body is heating up to kill bacteria/virus. Have the child drink lots of non sugar fluids! and if the fever is less then 105 use medicine to treat the fever anything over call ur doctor.. if the child has a hard time breathing and u have kept the nose clear from mucus then call the doctor too.. hope this help

Hi.
I am a general physician.on reading the symptoms of your child,I feel that he should undergo a few blood tests.mostly children upto 10yrs of age has a heart beat...100-140/min.yet sometimes while taking things too casually,we might miss something crucial.so my advise to you my dear will be,not to wait and go ahead to rule out the reasons for your childs tachycardia.by the way dont be so alarmed...am just trying to be careful.one of the major reason is....anemia...less of haemoglobin.so do not worry.take care and live a healthy life.

No answer, similar problem. My 8 year old daughter periodically complains that her heart is racing, like this morning when she had just gotten out of bed - no fever, no panic, no exercise, just racing heart. I've tried the cough, because I have an infrequent arythmia and it works for me, but not for her. guess we'll try the cold water next then off to the ped. She did see a pediatric cardiologist when she was 3 because her ped detected a murmur, but he attributed it to a growth spurt and she got a clean bill of health.

Dear Readers,

I am a naturopath and raw diet practitioner. I have done vast amounts of research into many illnesses the same and similar to this. Now, I am going to explain things which are not going to be acceptable to most people here, however, I am confident that some ailments here will disappear with the following measures. This is not allopathic medical advice or diagnosis. Please always consult your doctor.

If after consulation with your doctor your child has no discernable explanation then I would suggust the following considerations:

From my experience, I am convinced that most of the problems can be attributed to our children`s reaction to:-

1. Dehydration

2. Soda drinks

3. Sugar overloading

4. Caffeine hits

This could be due largely to parent`s like us conditioning and giving our children savoury foods and drinks which are acidifying and which overload our biological systems with substances which our bodies are not designed to accept.

If you have recognised corrected the above problems by moving your child to drink

1. Lots and lots of alkaline water - please google. (This means no more sweet drinks until your child has recovered).

2. Abstaining from all sweet drinks including fruit juices! This is a must!

3. No confectionaries or foods containing sugars or high glucose syrup or corn syrup. This could include substances such as Dextrose and even flavour enhancers like monosodium glutamate. Our children`s abstinence should also include aspartame and all other sugar substitutes.

4. Please watch out for all caffeine additives to drinks as well as in chocolate or coco drinks or plain coffee.

This should deal with the majority of the problems our children are demonstrating.

Other problems which may have to be considered if the former remedies do not work, such as:

1. Adverse reaction to a vaccine

2. Mercury poisoning through teeth fillings

3. The use of artificial creams and oils on your child`s skin

4. A consistent bad diet without green leafy vegetables, salads and fruit.

A correction and a quick recovery should be obtained by the following means:-

Following methods:-

1. A natural heavy metals detox with Chitin or Chlorella- spirulena can be added as a compliment. use cracked cell wall if you can. Test for two weeks to make sure there is no adverse reaction.

2. As above, but remove all teeth fillings. Better substitues do exist

3. The rule should always be for skin, "if you cannot eat it do not use it"! Medical creams are an exception only! Our skin absorbs all skin applications and solutions into the body!

Petrochemicals and other substances have serious effects on our delicate biology!

4. Wean your child on to raw vegetables and fruits. Keep Their food intake as alkaline as possible, consistently.

I am sorry, but we as parents have to wake up to the realties of our fleeting and vain existence; Which is:- Our bodies - are not designed to eat or drink processed, artificial and GMO foods and drinks; that are rich in savoury ingrediants but depleted in any real, beneficial goodness or value. Our bodies are not chemical processing plants, our bodies are delicate, biologically sensitive organisms. We must treat them as so!

Dear Avid Readers,
I have rewritten the former post correcting any grammatical errors. I also have added a part two to this post concerning why these problems happen. I hope that this short comment will help those of you who cannot find answers in the medical profession.

I have also used a broken dotted line below, for those of you who want to read part two immediately. I apologise for all grammatical errors made.

Dear Readers,

I am a Systematic Medicine, Naturopath and Raw Diet practitioner. I have done vast amounts of research into many illnesses which are the same and similar to this. Now, I am going to explain things which are not going to be acceptable to most people here, however, I am confident that some ailments will disappear using the following measures. However, it should be noted that this is not Allopathic medical advice or diagnosis. Please always consult your doctor!

If after consultation with your doctor your child has no discernable change or there is no scientific medical explanation then I would suggest the following considerations:

From my vast experience, I am convinced that most of the problems can be attributed to our children’s reaction to:-

1. Dehydration

2. Soda drinks

3. Sugar overloading

4. Caffeine hits

This could be due largely to parent’s like us conditioning and giving our children savoury foods and drinks which are “acidifying” and which do overload our biological systems with substances that our bodies are not designed to process or accept.

If you have recognised the aforementioned problems, then you can correct them by moving your child to do the following:-

1. Drink lots and lots of “Alkaline water” - please google. (This will mean no more sweet drinks until your child has fully recovered).

2. Abstaining your child from all sweet drinks including fruit juices! This is a must!

3. No confectionaries or foods containing sugars or high glucose syrup or corn syrup. This could include substances such as Dextrose and even flavour enhancers like Monosodium Glutamate. Your children’s abstinence should also include aspartame and all other sugar replacement substitutes.

4. Please watch out for caffeine additives to drinks as well as in chocolate or coco drinks or just plain tea and coffee.

This fast-track trouble shooting advice should deal with the majority of the physical heart problems which our children are demonstrating.

Now, other problems what may have to be considered if the former remedies do not work are such as these:

1. Adverse reaction to a vaccine or toxin.

2. Mercury poisoning through teeth fillings.

3. The use of artificial creams, oils and substances on your child’s skin.

4. A consistent bad diet without green, leafy vegetables, salads and fruit.

A correction and a quick recovery should be obtained in time by the following means and methods:-

1. By using a “natural”, heavy metals, detox programme with Chitin or Chlorella. Spirulena can also be added as a compliment. However, please use “cracked cell wall” Chlorella if you can. Test for two weeks to make sure there is no adverse reaction. If there is then use Chitin and carry out the same two week adverse reaction test or vice versa if you have done it the other way around.

2. As above, in number 1, but remove all teeth fillings. Better teeth filling substitutes do exist which are NOT TOXIC! Make sure that your child is taking the natural detox substances for several weeks before having the Mercury Amalgams removed. Continue with the detox programme for 9 to 12 months! –Absolutely important!

3. The rule should always be for your child’s skin, "if you cannot eat it do not use it"! Medical creams are an exception only! Our skin absorbs all the harsh, non biological, skin applications and solutions into the body! These chemicals are dangerous if we were to handle then with our hands or to drink directly. The Petrochemicals and other harsh, non biological, substances do have serious effects on our delicate human biology!

4. Wean your child on to eating raw vegetables and fruits. Keep their food intake as alkaline as possible, consistently! Please google “Alkaline foods” for a list of all body friendly, alkaline ingredients!

I am sorry to say this, but we as parents have to wake up to the realties of our fleeting and vain existence, which is:- Our bodies - are not designed to eat or drink processed, artificial and GMO foods and drinks: Foods, that are rich in savoury ingredients but depleted in any real, beneficial goodness or value. Our bodies are not chemical processing plants. Our bodies are delicate, biologically sensitive organisms. Therefore, we must treat them as so!

This is the second part of the document on, the "most common causes of palpitations".
I am going to explain why I believe that the aforementioned heart regulatory problems occur. Due to my experience and research, I believe that the human body, which is not designed to consume acidifying foods, will develop and intolerance to the various artificial substances which it sees are completely foreign to it. Therefore, either the symptoms of an allergy or adverse reaction to the presence of the offending substance occurs. This can be anything from a sugar intolerance to the body’s reaction to the presence of a toxin such as mercury.
According to Systematic Medicine © theory, our bodies operate by conditioning: In other words, how we condition or prepare our body’s through the things we eat and drink over a period of time. It is this behaviour which determines how we set it up to operate for the future. If our food and drink habits are bad, we condition or set up our body’s so that they will become more prone to diseases, infections, ailments, sicknesses and allergies. By given our body’s the correct exposure to the right foods and adequate water, we are providing our body’s with the building blocks for a continued good existence. Should we compromise the natural operation of its performance over time through the use of acidifying, savoury foods and drinks, we will burden ourselves with a body which will constantly require medical props and treatments, for it to continue to exist. Unfortunately, only eating and drinking for pleasure drives most of our consumption, so that we suffer from the obvious problems of obesity and premature age related ailments and diseases which would not normally afflict and affect us.

Therefore, the conclusion is: "if we can damage and destroy our body through the continued misuse of oral consumption, for the sole purpose of satisfying our lusts, then we can also recover from the same afflictions by the correct application of oral discipline."

I have personally suffered from repeated heart palpitations over the years, so I can say from experience that the aforementioned methods do work!
