Hi Everyone.
I got pancreatitis in 2005. I got it from gallstones. I was talking to my grandma and she said some things that scared me. She said that her mother died from pancreatic cancer. She also said that my grandfather died from pancreatic cancer too when he was 40. My grandma had gallstones and they were taken out. I remember my mom having an operation for gallstones when I was 8 years old. She brought the gallstones home and showed them to me and my brother. I definitely see a pattern of gallstone/pancreas problems on my mother's side of the family. I'm just wondering if my pancreatitis is going to develop into cancer because it is inherited? I'm not sure if anything can be done to prevent this from happening. If anyone can shed light on the subject, I would be happy to hear from you. Thanks.
