I recently found out I was pregnant. I found out pretty late and I'm 26 weeks along. I'm also a heroin user and I didn't know I was pregnant for a while so unfortunatly I was using for the first trimester and some of the second but as soon as I found out I was pregnant, I weened myself off and have been clean for about a month now. I'm not using anything, no suboxone.. nothing. I feel great and I'm really happy I'm clean and excited for my daughter to come. But i'm worried that she will come out addicted or have the drugs in her system? Can this happen if i've been clean for about a month now? Any advice or feedback would be alot of help considering how bad i'm stressing out. Thank you!
Congratulations of getting sober! That is no easy task and you should be very proud on making the choice to get clean for you and your baby! If you've been off H for a month and continue not to use your daughter should not have any H in her system when you deliver. H stays in your system for about a week so it should be out by now. Using heroin during pregnancy can cause low birth weight so make sure to eat healthy and pack on the pounds for your little one. If you were an IV user make sure to get tested for HIV (can't hurt to get tested even if you weren't an IV user).
