horrible taste in mouth 4 days after tooth extraction

I'm going through this right now! I had my top left wisdom tooth out 5 days ago, and while most of the pain is gone I am left with a sort of throbbing feeling. I also have the most disgusting taste in my mouth and it smells horrible. There is also this white flesh type thing on my gums. It's so nasty, it makes me feel sick. I'm worried about dry socket, and wondering if I should go to my dentist just to make sure. I have been rinsing like 5-6 times a day with warm salt water, and brushing (not the extraction site) but nothing seems to helps. :(

I am SO THANKFUL to find all these posts!!  I felt so alone and like there was something wrong with me!  Everyone i talk to says they never had this..its horrible!  I did the salt water but not enough times..thanks all for your advice!  I am so glad and sorry that misery loves company :)

Bad taste after wisdom tooth extraction happens to EVERYONE about a week after surgery. I just got mine out 7 days ago, and you're right, the taste is absolutely disgusting - almost unbearable. The taste is caused by dying and disintegrating tissue/blood, and it will go away in several days.

i am 7 days from my surgery of all 4 wisdom teeth and yesterday started with the taste, i have been doing the rinses and pain is getting better so i am not worried about infection or dry socket at this point. 

I'm experiencing the foul tase in my mouth. It seriously taste like ive drank poison are something took a c**p in my mouth and decided to die. I've never expericed something so bad in my life and i do not know how to get rid of it. Nobody seems to understand the taste that in my mouth that makes me want to vomit ever two minutes. ):

thank you SO much for the info! I've been dealing with that disgusting taste for three days now, and couldn't figure out why it wasn't going away no matter how many times i rinsed with Listerine. But i try rinsing the area with the little syringe thingy and it really did work!

my mother is also feeling the same after tooth extraction she canot eat food because the food does not taste and smell good to her. In her urine examination yeast cells are found . dont know what to do............. she is on soup for the last 15 days :(

i have before but it feels like my tooth is bleeding but i dont know becuase i have a wired taste in my top back tooth and it taste really bad <3 

Me too...4 wisdom teeth out on Friday and by Monday night I felt like I had a skunk in the back of my mouth. The procedure went well and I have had minimal pain but this taste is awful.   Headed to the dentist to get this problem worked out!!  I am doing everyone a favor and staying away from the public.

 

this is the exact thing happening to me too!!! the taste is AWFUL. back left from impacted wisdom tooth extraction!! that's me!!

wow soo stinkin happy that others are just as freaked out. i havent been being very good: smoking a little, sipping through straws (after 36 hours) , eating hard foods, and just being risky. My mouth has this blood tasting liquid in it all of a sudden, and my right top extract site is more sore than earlier. Its day 3 of all 4 wisdom teeth coming out and im jusst about to call my dentist :P

i had one tooth extracted and on that same day i experienced that same bad taste and smell in my mouth. i was thinking it was the novacane oozing out because it was like just an hour after the extraction. i dont know if that is possible but thats wat it seemed like to me.

I actually quite like that taste that you're all describing :-D

I just needed to know it was nothing to worry about and that I wasn't going to die or anything

everyone must be getting different tastes cuz wat i tasted was horrible.
