My daughter age 17 was just diagnosed with an 11mm cyst in her Pineal Gland. This was found by chance when she passed out at a local restaurant! We are waiting to see a neurologist
Kaiser is horrible! I am in the Sutter group and they seem much more advanced
How large was your cyst?
Hi I was diagnosed with a 6 mm tumor that is sitting on the base of my skull causing massive pain, memory and motor function issues. And this came after a head trauma d/t MVA in 2013, and after double level neck fusion in 2014 that was an emergency surgery. Post surgery I was put on different medications (off narcotics) for over a year that masked the symptoms but not enough to not cause pain daily, making my life drastically inert. waiting to see a neurosurgeon tomorrow (Tues before Thanksgiving 2016). I'm in soCal and there are good doctors. I have Arnold Chiari malformation as a result of the MVA and 2 more bulging and herniated discs above and below the fusion. so my diagnosis may be different than yours, but from what I read, this type of cyst should be drained/removed when it starts to cause daily symptoms. I lose function in my left leg and right arm sometime. its bad. but I will post tomorrow post visit. i'm interested to see what neuro surgeon says. I wish you the best of luck,
Im having surgery for the removal of a pineal cyst. However, they are doing a full on craniotomy instead of less invasive endoscopic procedure. I would much rather have the less invasive surgery for obvious reasons but I was informed that the Skull Base Institute does not take insurance. Is this true? Can I ask how you were able to have your procedure as far as do you have a certain type of insurance that is acceptable? Dont mean to be too personal just very concerned. Thank you

I am 50 had head pressure headaches in back of my head. Did multiple MRIs cts etc they found a small pinal cyst and said dontvworry. Now my symptoms are worse and my bp is very high all the time now
I used to go to the gym 6 days a week 177 6ft tall in shape now i feel sick everyday no doctor knows whats wrong. I saw a show where doctor shanian took one out of a young girl with a cable procedure and she was better. Im now considering having this surgery done

I am 53 years old and have a pineal cyst 3 inches by 1 inch. I have a lot of headaches and my eyesight has drastically deteriorated. I have a very difficult time sleeping as well. I have had another MRI and it has maintained the same size. If anything gets worse I plan to seek help from Dr. Dong Kim in Texas who is an expert in removing these type of cysts.
My daughter has a pineal cyst and it waiting to talk to a neurosurgeon. She's hoping he will remove hers. Her headaches are getting worse and worse. Did you take any medication before you had surgery? She has taken a few different things but everything has caused other problems and now she won't take anything. She's 19 and in college. Just trying to finish this semester. Only able to make it to 1 class a day if even that.
How big was your cyst?? Mine is 16 mm and I just found out about it, it explains soo much though! Im sceduled to see the nerosurgeon in 2 weeks & nervous!
