how long after opiates can you take suboxone without going into withdrawls?

I had back surgery on the 17th and have been on suboxone for like 3.5 years. I had to stop taking suboxone 3 days prior to surgery, just today i went and got back on suboxone....i did sorta fib to the doc about how many days it had been since last opiates, most addictionologist that prescribe subs will not give them to you until you have been off the opiates for like 24 hrs or so, due to chance of precipitated withdrawl. I took 30mg of oxycodone at 11:30 am roughly it is now 6:56pm I get two 8mb orange subs per day, i just broke one down to 2mg pieces took a 2mg which is only like 7.5 hrs later, so far so good will post back if i get sicker, i was already starting with the sweats and figity stuff along with yawns/sneezing and watery eyes, the 2mg of sub just dissolved about 10 min ago i would say i am already starting to feel better. I am a beast when it comes to tolerances however, I did not iv ever but did snort almost all the time in quite large quantities per day, a normal day for me 3 or 4 years ago would be to wake up snort about 40-80mg of oxy at once, then take about 4 or 5 10s orally to keep me going, then would repeat at least 3-6 more times throughout the day. Now mind you I would say the pain meds hardly worked at all after the surgery I was thinking maybe 3 days wasnt long enough to wait before having surgery and needing narcotics for once rather than just wanting them, however this got me back on subs quicker than i expected which really is sort of a good thing for me subs are the lesser of two evils and best of all i am a veteran so i dont pay for them, i feel for those that have to b/c they arent too cheap from what i hear. I will post back if i get sick from this, my plan is to increase the dosage within another hour if do not go into precipitated withdrawl. I have taken suboxone sooner than 3 hrs after opiates before in the past and i personally had no ill effects, however those times it was sort of a one time thing vs taking dilaudid and percocet for 2 weeks straight after my surgery this time. Hopefully this helps someone, I am 6'4 230lbs so small doses of anything do not really do much for me. The main thing you want to do if you are going from opiates to subs is look up the cows test online answer it honestly to determine your score it is a better guage of when your safe to take them vs the time scale if you go by time if you take instant relase opiates your good with sub they say withing 12-24 hrs without getting sick and if your on something timereleased or methadone they say like 36-72hrs.

guest a year ago from my person experience I was taking 10-14 30mg roxies both orally and snorted and I waited about 16 hrs it depends on your injection method as well, I started suboxone a few months ago took a very small amount at first after withdrawls didn't come on immediately I took another 2mg an hr later and took 4 mg before bed... I took subs for 4 days never more the 8mg a day and I was fine after been clean now for 3 years suboxone like nething else is physically addicting and I used mine to get thru the worst part of withdrawls its soo worth if I you are willing to quit if not do not was subs for people who need them. hope that helps. wait atleast 16-24 hrs before taking the sub to b safe.

Thanks for for.sharing your story. I too have my own opiate addiction goin to oxy10/325. My dr "tapering" me from 120/month 4/day to 90/3 a dayneedless to say it doesn't work I end up taking more than I should and I usually run out about two weeks after I get my prescription filled then I go and get them I buy them from my friend she gives me morphine 100 milligrams and I get those and she usually keeps me going until I get my next month prescription I'm sick of it now I see a psychiatrist because not only do I have an addiction to opiates but I'm also testing for a lung transplant stage 4 COPD emphysema and chronic bronchitis now I'm sick of running out of mind cuz I can't control myself telling a person that you're tapering them and giving them a prescription and doing it on your own and being a addicted to pills is almost impossible it just doesn't work unless you true to yourself and as much as I want to not be on the pills I can't help myself I see them I count them I see I can take one extra two extra I could take 10 A day at least 10/ 325oxycodone sorry anyway now my psychiatrist has given me a prescription for suboxone 4/1 one now I have a high tolerance to pain medication and I took my last to my friend gave me two vicodin 10 / 325 milligram so I took those this morning and no they're not going to last long and I will start to withdraw because my friend ran out of the morphine 100 milligrams which I bust into 3 pieces reason I take them a reason to really trying to get off but I always fall short something happens I trigger and then I end up take you more than I should just can't take them anymore so I'm going to try to take the suboxin 4 / ones whatever and Valium and also prozac that I take but I'm afraid because of I heard that they don't have brand suboxin that now there generic and they don't work as well and I'm terrified to get the prescriptions filled and mess up my vhance of thus nonth oxy scrupt I'm just afraid I'm afraid that if I get the suboxone prescription filled that if I actually waited or or get my percocets they won't feel it because I'll see I'm on sub,s and what if the suboxones don't work for me since I have such a high tolerance and I'm having such a low dosage of suboxin and I've also heard that there generic and they're not they don't work as well as the brand so I have many concerns for my health I have enough with my lungs and I don't need anymore with my addiction being a problem I need advice that you could give me since you seem so versed and what you explained I would really appreciate it I'm having the worst time of my life trying to figure out how I'm to play this out I'm sitting with a prescription for suboxin in my hand but I'm afraid to get it filled because then I won't be able to get my percocets filled when they come in 11 days but I'm out and I'm its just a mess so any suggestions you have I would appreciate it thank you very much for listening to my story and I wish you the very best and I admire your openness and willingness to try to help people understand this is sha les 22 and I hope you respond thank you

You definitely need to be feeling like complete sh*t before you take suboxone! Sweaty, cold chills, goose bumps, yawning, watery eyes, the whole nine. Withdrawling completely.

***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed It is a common misconception that the Naloxone in Suboxone initiates precipitated withdrawal. This is false. The Naloxone can only initiate precipitated withdrawal if injected into a person tolerant to opioids. Taken sublingually the Naloxone has virtually no effect.

This I totally agree on. I've been taking 18mlg hydro morphine ever 4 to 5 hours. Even waking up in middle of night for past 6 months. My last use was at 11pm. By 8 am I was in mild withdrawal sweats anxiety. I took 8mlg suboxzone and helped. No pain no anxiety. However lack of energy and poured sweat for 48 hrs . Only sleeping 6hrs a night. Major depression as well accompied it. I am waiting tk feel normal. Still foggy and lack of motivation. Starting day three.

No methadone is completely different yes you have to wait a long time after methadone because it is so long acting and has a long half life

I recently got out of the hospital.I wad on subs. For pain management.had to go off for a day or so for cancer ,lung surgery .I am almost 4 weeks out now but still have a chest tube. Leak on the lung still. I was giving Diladen in the hospital on a drip. When I came home I was given perks. Dr will not give anymore pain meds .Every night I go through sweets so cold and my legs hurt horrible .my husband has been giving me some of his oxys.to help .but I know I need to quit those. I have before taken a sub pill at 16 hrs and it worked for the withdrawels. I need to do that again.I know. Your info. Is so imformative..I want this to stop .cannot go on like this .

I am terrified to take my suboxone too early again. Just yesterday I did 12 d8's. I did last one At 2am& went to sleep. Woke up and in full w.d. .. Last time I waited 13 hours and went into sever wds! So bad ! Worse than aready had!! How long should i wait !!!!

Hey im on fent and been on 200mics 4 bout 9 years now im tired of wd so im thinking starting subs on my own and im very scared of the wd. But reading ur blog got me a lil unfraid cause my wd's be deadly and its no pill i can take that do nothing for me but i got some subs of the street and i want to start em but dnt no how much to start off with n when to start but im affraid and dnt no what to do and im going crazy and very stressed i can't live a regular life.....i want my life back lord pls help me.. Tramadol are narcotic pain killers now and carry a much worse withdrawl than hydrocodone or oxycodone. Personal experience.

Depends on how much you were taking an using that's why it's best to go to a suboxone clinic so they can safely dose you. Cut the strip into about 16 pieces and take 1 piece and wait about an hour and if you are still feeling bad take another and so on.
