Hi, I know this is a post over a year old but I just found it and everything you said I feel ..I started taking 5-HTP with vitamin B6 and it helps. I dont feel as angry or depressed. Hope this helps...
first time on citalopram at age 50 I never read the side effects till one day I looked in the mirror and said who the hell is that.. I was so out of shape. and I am a very clean eating health nut... how was this possible..? I will never go on man made depression pills again. getting off them messed me up more then ever I was ever depressed... tell everyone to never go on this drug.. I was on them for the last four months that I was trying to slim down for vacation.. now I have too hit the beach looking like a fat whale....I hate you drug companies.. and yes I am angry all the time....
thanks for the info.. maybe I have hope
I also gained a whooping 20 pounds!! It was so hard to lose it too. I could diet and exercise and nothing. Not a single pound shed. I decreased my dose by half about three weeks ago and I've lost 5 pounds! Not even trying. So happy! :)
I know what you mean. I was on 60mg for 2 years and have. Even off for about 2 months now. I hate how angry I get and how little patience I have for my 2 young children. Not a good feeling.

Be even more careful with Cymbalta. I switched to cymbalta and I think it’s one of the worst of them. My weight gain was even worse and I had a nervous breakdown when I needed to come off of it after 10 months and 35 more pounds. Withdrawals are horrific from it. Be very weary. I have heard many people with the same story about cymbalta. I truly believe it shouldn’t even be on the market
I was on celexa for two years, I switched to welbutrin and about a year and a half later was back to my original weight. I went from 130 to 160.
I was on celexa for 2 and half years and i gained 90lbs. i had just lost 100lbs the year before i started celexa, so thats a bummer. ive been off celexa for almost a month now and ive already lost about 20lbs. im someone who is pretty active in general and i eat healthy. thats why it was so surprising that i gained so much. weight. the only reason why i stopped was because when i was at the hospital with my father, he finally saw all the stretch marks i have on my body. he got really worried and told me stop them. and its honestly been the best thing ive done. im happier, im more active, i feel like myself again. i guess everyone is different and get affected with weight gain and lost from celexa in their own way
was on celexa for 10 years got off cold turkey cause i gained so much weigh hopefully now i’ll loose weight have faith you’ll be ok does any one no how long it takes
Did the weight come off in the end?
I would like to know how quickly to lose the weight and how long the cold turkey withdrawal lasts. Day 4 and a half no citalopram. I keep feeling like I'm going to throw up. I wonder how much longer? I see online that the actual drug is out of the system in 7 to 8 days.
I was taking Sertraline for about 2 years. It helped me a lot not only with my depression and anxiety but also with my anxiety attacks, breathing problems, mood swinging and anger. However after 2 years I started feeling all of the stress and anxiety back. It was not working on me anymore, I was so stressed and feeling so miserable again. My GP gave me Celexa and started with 5 mg and gone up to 40 mg in few months, he said no way I gain weight with taking it. Now 1.5 year passed and I gained 20 pounds. I feel even more depressed and anxious than ever. I gradually cutting the Celexa off (although my GP was not happy with the decision) and so far It`s been a week that I am not taking any at all. However I am still overweight and not even mentally prepare to do any exercise or diet( side effects of cutting medication if hitting me really bad).I hope I get a bit more settle with my new condition and hopefully be able to follow some fitness and diet plan. Long story short, don`t believe if they tell you Celexa is not making you fat. It does.
Can you please post your wean off schedule? I take 10 mgs and am ready to wean off completely
