I heard of cycling breaks. People have such breaks to rest and then keep riding again. I wonder if those breaks are necessary. I mean after all, shouldn’t you just keep riding until you are done? What is the point of stopping in the first place? How long are your breaks during cycling?

What you have heard is probably some time off riding. Both, beginning and more experienced riders are neglecting the importance of having a break during the season. It seems ridiculous but it works. The best time to take a break is immediately after you have reached your maximum result. Instead of trying to make the most of your current peak and squeeze out the last bit of energy from your body you should sit back and relax allowing your body to rest and recuperate. Although it doesn’t look that way, you will be able to reach higher level and stay there longer. Otherwise you may end up over trained. My breaks are not long but are spaced throughout the season to provide highest impact.
