I ran on my twisted ankle on saturday much to my body's dismay. It was painful. How long does it usually take to wait it out before you just go ahead and run on it? And how much pain do you endure?
Depending on the extent of the injury usually a few days to a week or so.

My rule of thumb, which might be only worth as much, is that I consider an injury "runable" when I can log a 3-mile walk and honestly tell myself that it was painfree.

And as for how much pain... there's a fine line between an ache and a pain. I wish I could define it better, but an old injury might create an occasional ache, but once it becomes pain, then you've got to back off.
