Right now I am 2 days a week of rest, Saturday and Sunday. This is due to the fact that I run at work and I have so much going on during the weekends that it is better for me to "rest" then. Once Soccer is over and I am crannking up for the marathon, I will start running on Saturday Mornings again.

Rest in my opinion (especially in your teen/growing years) is as EQUALLY important as any distance, speed or hill session. It is while you are resting that gains are made from all your hard or steady or consistant training.

I run, and always have run seven days per week, but that is only because running is something I love to do and I don't take running too seriously anymore.

Years ago I used to average around 12.5 miles a day but if I shifted the balance to 18.75 miles one day and 8 mile the next, I got better results without altering my total weekly running distance.
The longer runs giving me greater endurance, the shorter ones, recovery (Rest) and consolidation.

I'm 37: I think I need it even more NOW!

I've always ran equal distances over the week (or tried to). I never realized this was detrimental.

Not necessarily detrimental, it's just running the same distance day after day you become very good at running that distance.

I take one day off completely. And sometimes i take another day and do something low impact like walking, biking or swimming.

During this time of the year (or whenever I'm not training for a long race) I take a day off after every 2 or 3 days of running, depending on how I'm feeling.

So sometimes I run 4 days a week, sometimes 5.

It works for me.

During active training for a marathon, I take the day off after my long run most of the time... And if my legs are jello for the last few days before my long run, I take the day off before it.

Seems to work fine...

Usually 2 days a week, sometimes just 1 day. Depending on how I feel. As my racing days are over, I am more apt to take a rest day and feel okay about that feel guilty.

Right now I try to run every other day, usually around 7.5 miles. Since my runs are a little longer I think everday would wear me out.
