male 135 lbs

One day I took a xanax bar (2mg) to try to pass out and get some sleep. I was having problems with my sleeping patterns at the time. And without really consciously  deciding to, or just being influenced by the xanax and not remembering/thinking clearly, I took a box of benedryl, 600mg total.

I should mention that I have recreationally taken psychedelic drugs before. I've heard of friends taking benedryl to trip.

So you know, I tripped the hell out in complete delerium for a day. It was quite the experience, but I enjoyed it. In the delerium, nothing is fake and anything is real. There are no limits.

And upon waking the next morning I found the empty box and a bunch of web pages open on my computer about diphenhydramine. I must have read about it on the xanax and went for it.

And I can honestly say I got something positive out of the experience. I'd couldn't sum up what I got out of it in my own words, but I definately noticed a slight difference. I later found a 'trip report' online that perefectly put it into words in the summary.

"I felt like sh*t for a day or so, all things came back to normal, except my mind. Its an interesting experience, diving into fates hands, giving up control and staring into lunacy for a while, letting myself out the door, when I come back everything is the same, but I’m not, I have the same views as before but also new ones I gained while lost. It wasn’t introspective like the 3rd, more a loss of all grounding, which, having experienced it has let me think and believe in whole new ways"

Be safe and know what your taking.

I'm a 107 lbs female and 3 weeks ago I took 600mgs of benedryl and I experienced no hallucinations. I was a bit disappointed. It was a semi-suicide attempt. I just got really tired, but everytime I was falling asleep, I'd spasm. I remember most of the night (therapist made me go to the ER). They didn't do anything, but keep me overnight. I don't know...I was thinking of trying a higher dose maybe? I mean, seriously, hardly any side effects.

Hi how long did it take for you to start feeling them and how sleepy did you get

Hi i'm so glad I found this topic i'm a 105 pound female and i've been taking 50mg unisom max strengh sleep gels for a long long time. And now i'm taking 8-12 of them at the sametime and i'm now totally addicted to the very very drowsy feeling they do to me. Is anyone else in the same boat i'd really like to know.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use

I've been taking 150mg every night for the past month or so, and I'm doing just fine. I only started taking so many because my girlfriend of five years decided to leave me, so it has been quite challenging getting used to sleeping alone again. But yea I usually take three 50mg softgels each night. I used to go to sleep at like 10:30 easily, but now even with taking three a night I usually can't fall asleep until about 2-3am in the morning. And I'm a morning person so I've been waking up between 9-11am, not much sleep at all.

Are you sure you took 3000 mg? BBC News reported that a 40-yr-old man poured over 60 crushed diphenhydramine tablets into a water bottle and drank it and died less than 2 hrs later in hospital. (I assume that they were 50 mg. tablets) Did you build up a tolerance to them by taking large amounts prior to your suicide attempt? Do you weight much more than average?

That is not enough to kill you. I've taken 950 mg and still alive. But I bought a total of 5000 mg. Let me try it and if I survive I will tell the tale.

The lethal dose for rats is 500mg so it'd be alot higher for humans like 20x or 30x

Up to 100 or 150 mg shouldn't pose much on an issue for the average person. Chances are you'd be uncomfortable and feel a little off though.  Heavy abuse of diphenhydramine can cause permanent heart problems and has a good potential of a psychotic break while under the effects.

Unfortunately, Every drug abuse (in case above is
overdosing) comes to the very sad ending. I have started using Diphenhydramine
4 years ago. Started from 2 50mg pills then started add up and went up to 8 to
some point. For the last 2 months I went down to 3 50mg pills before going to
bed but 1 night I thought I will die. An hour after taking regular 3 pills my
heart started racing as crazy, it was beating so hard that I though it will jump
out of my chest. I had hard time to breath, and felt chest pressure and burning
on the back of my head. We rushed to the hospital and I thought I am having a
heart attack. After hooking me up to monitor, taking my chest X-ray, and
getting AKG, and blood work doctor said that It is not a heart failure and I
don’t have any heart condition. And it’s for sure the adverse reaction for the sleeping
medication. They injected me with Ativan (don’t know the dosage) which made me
supper dizzy, loopy and “calm”.

After that episode – 4 weeks ago – I did even think to take
a single pill of Unisom (Diphenhydramine).

Me – 36 year old Female. No health problems what so ever.

omg wow this is why I want to stop taking them, there really addictive, I switched to the just diphenhydramine to where its not like whats in tylenol pm's, the acetaminophen, cause I know they found out it hurts your stomach more, but I know just the diphenhydramine by itself is harmful enough, I feel for your sister I know how addictive they are

I've taken 300mg before, I'm still here.  I slept like a baby and I didn't have any hallucinations or tremors.

you know when i was young.. 22 yr old.. i took over 48 bendryal pills weighed 100pds 5'1ft.. and drive.. yes I took the pills and drove... once I got to the front door.. i started tripping, falling, cant even really get up.. and struggling to get up. and grab on something to hold me up. and after that i got seizures.. and prolly more than 4 hours. My boyfriend.. came home and saw me under the table.. clicking the remote to my hearing aid. and he saw foam coming out of my mouth. and pupils are so shot.. and he tried to talk to me and i couldnt really speak. or sign but mumbled. and went to hospital in ER. and doctors and nurses trying to talk to me and they couldnt get anything from me.. and i was a wreck.... and ended up in coma for couple of hours. which later on finally got myself cleared and starting to remember what i did.. and such. and doctor asked me tons of questions. and they spoke to my boyfriend that they dont think that i will ever go back to normal.. since possiblity brain damaged for what I did. and if she actually recovered then she is lucky to be alive. so He told them he want take me home and watch me for 72 hours. and I couldnt bath myself, go bathroom, dont remember much but gaining to remember some. take a while. so 2 weeks later. * doctor told him to bring me back in 2 weeks if i dont change.. * so I met him and I was completely recovered, knows who i am, hospital etc. so im lucky and therefore I will never ever try it again... scary, you will not know what will happen to you next.

I've been taking sleep aid for the past 7 years now.  For the past 3 years I've been taking 2-3 CVS brand sleep aid @ 50mg.  It takes about an hour to hour an half to take affect, maybe thats because I am diagnosed with hyperthyroidism lol  I do feel my heart race which to me feels good lol
