You can't use a whole bottle of Miralax routinely. There is also a warning for those with kidney disease. It can throw off your electrolytes thus gatorade is used for colonoscopy preps. Also, if you suffer from diagnosed chronic constipation that's one thing. Make sure you don't have an obstruction or other pathology before purging your colon.
One symptom of a rectocele is incomplete evacuation which can absolutely cause constipation. You can eat lots of fiber and have ideal stool, but because you do not fully evacuate, it stays inside and more and more liquid is removed and your stool becomes hard. I had a large rectocele that was very symptomatic and had it surgically repaired. It has helped a lot with the constipation. If you do get the surgery, there is a book by Sue Croft with lots of helpful information.

Be careful using miralax. It is not intended for dosage of a whole bottle. My mom had a really bad reaction to it. The same chemical used in anti freeze is in miralax. There is a reason the bottle reads not to use for more than 7 days and dosage as it is prescribed. I would never recommend this for elderly usage. Go back to old fashioned prunes and prune & apple juice!
I do not believe it is safe to take an entire bottle of Miralax. No. I had sigmoid colon removed and am unable to have bm w/o Miralax. I capful is recommended, and for me and me only, this stuff makes me sick as a dog, since surgeon has had me on it daily, indefinitely, now. Saw surgeon today and told him that Miralax was causing me heart palps, and CNS issues, along with overall feeling of malaise (physical sickness that cannot be described). Surgeon is very gung-ho about Miralax, however, he did after quite a long consult said that I could take Senakot S (2 tablets da. and glycerin suppositories as well. I would rather (almost) gargle urine than have to stay on Miralax daily, indefinitely. Miralax as instructed on bottle is only to be taken for 7 days. Good luck with Miralax, I hate this product. F.D.A. has had it on it's drug alert list since 2012, yet done nothing, even though many have contacted the manufactuerer, and the F.D.A. reporting very serious side effects when taken incorrectly. Hope you will consider not taking an entire bottle, and only as instructions read put 1 capful in glass of Gatorade. Hope you do well.
This is scaring me . Since I had my last baby I get constipated so much. Doctor said it's hormones but I don't want to feel like this forever
It sounds like you nsy have akso suffered s orolapse, You probably need reconstruction surgery. A rectocele can cause the symptons you describe.
Look into cascara sagrada. It stimulates the organ that gets you going. I did a couple capsules of cascara and a teaspoon of psyllium a day for a couple weeks and voila. Just make sure you don't take them at the same time, and drink plenty of water. If you don't drink enough water the psyllium can actually get stuck in there and make matters worse. I get mine at walmart. Good luck.
My dr told me the same thing. A whole bottle is safe. It was explained perfectly. U feel full an upset stomach until it starts working.

I did the MiraLax for 3 months with prune juice yeah after 3 months it's got me locked up were I'm not going and looking all over for a miracle. Hope it's still working for you as that is what my doctor prescribed.
Why not use dulcolax?
surgeon told me stop drinking coffee. coffee goes direct to kidney and bladder, bypasses the colon, so you can't count it as fluid to help with proper stool consistency which stimulates bowel movement.
