how soon do you lose weight after going of depo provera?

I lost 6 pounds as soon as I got off and went to see the doctor today and lost 3 more pounds. He kept saying its cause of my hormones idk

You really think if someone ate healthy and excersized frequently would gain weight during after the depo? Well news to ya, I have been on it for theee years and I haven’t gained weight. I’m shortly getting off of it so I can become fertile and hopefully in two years my partner and I will start trying for kids. During that time I will maintain a good eating habit and excersize like I do now. Doubt I’ll gain weight. If you don’t want to gain weight, watch what you eat and excersize.. simple as that!

Whoaa. Bone density! Too scary. I've been on depo for 1 year and gained 40 pounds I became 180 lbs. I was fasting, working out, hiking, cutting my calories to 1,700 cals a day! I could only keep myself at 180! I recently got my shot and after reading all these comments it will be my last!

Its really not that simple! Not at all actually! Hormone therapy is a real thing. Birth control tricks your body into thinking you are pregnant. I have been an athlete my entire life as soon as I took the shot, I gained 25lbs in a year. It is incredibly frustrating. Everyone has different bodies so good for you if you didn't gain weight, however I think you should be a little sensitive to those it has negatively affected. Sharing your story may be helpful to some to thank you for sharing but please don't ridicule the people who do not share the same experience. Its a very difficult problem for a woman to have!

Can some please help i ave been on this injection for almost 5 year an when I go on it I was 160 an now am 190 an am only 20 can some please help me to lose this weight because nothing is working this is the worse thing that ever happen to me an d worse part d weight mostly go in 2 my belly an now it look like an 4 months pregnant

I’ve been on the depo Shot for nearly 10 years bc I would get very bad pains when I was on my period. I have gain weight. But I was also able to loose it too. Whatever doctor told you that there is no side effects lied to to. There are always Side effects with anything you use. I got off of the depo Shot a month ago and was able to loose 8 lbs in a few weeks. I still lost wait while I was on it, but not fast enough.

That’s when my weight started falling off. When I was on the depo I was 175 pounds now I’m at 157 since I stopped taking it.

I'm the same exact way... I was 125 and I now weigh 198 ..haven't changed any eating habits or anything from what I used to do...I was on it for 2 years and just recently got off of it because I was think g absolutely to much weight

My daughter was 90 - 95 pounds when she first got on depo at 16 due to almost being gang raped.... She didn't gain much weight at all... she got off of it when she was about 21 then she got involved with somebody when she was like 24 had a baby got up to 190 in pregnancy After having baby she started losing weight she was happy.... About a monthsor so later she went back on depo because her periods were so painful she's got endometriosis n the depo stopped her periods and the endometriosis from acting up... But now she's losing clumps of hair and up to 177lbs, after baby she had lost a good 20 to 30 pounds.. Well depo found ut again for her.. She's totally depressed... I told her to get off depo try something different.. Her sister swears depo didn't make her gain all the weight.. OK maybe not all but most. She's been in a junk food kick cuz that's how she handles her depression, but she's trying to make a change.. She's getting a IUD not Mirena but something like it... I know first-hand that Depo-Provera does make you gain weight because I myself was on it also for endometriosis until I had my Partial hysterectomy. so if your on the depo and you see yourself blowing up and getting tons of weight get off of it and so if your on the depo and you see yourself blowing up gaining tons of weight get off of it and try something different. I know this post is old but I have been on the depo for years and my weight was the same 120-130 and jumped to 175. I got my last needle in march, so june is when I can expect the worst. i’m just wondering if you lost the weight or what you experienced? thanks in advance!
