Hello!
I had shot of depro provera 1 year ago and I gained weigh (60 lbs in one year!) Horrible!!! And I didn’t change my eating habbits or anything. Also doctor told me there are no side effects to depo provera! So, my question now is: how soon do you lose weight after going of depo provera?

I was on depo provera for only a few months. It made me lose weight due to the fact that I had no appetite. It's hard to sit in uncomfortable chairs because my bones started to hurt, also it was hard to lay in bed due to the same thing. Those who tell you that there are no side effects are morons, there are side effects to any medication you take. I would suggest not to take it because you can also have the same issues. Every body is different though.

I also have experienced weight gain, decreased sex drive, mood swings, nausea, and cavities.... Oh the cavities! I got on depo-provera when I was 15, before then I hadn't had a single cavity since I was about 8. When I got off depo-provera, I had more than 8 cavities in my mouth and I told the dentist about the depo shot and of course he looked at me like I was stupid and simply said "you need to floss and brush more and cut out sweets" the only problem was that I was brushing and flossing and was hardly ever eating sweets.
Now I am 20, been off the shot for about 3 years and Im still having problems with my teeth. They're very sensitive and I'm still getting cavities. Coincidence?

I started on the depo, and lost 10 lbs. Then, over the course of the four years I was on it, I gained 35 lbs. In May of 2013, I switched from depo to the pill. I lost 20 lbs since. I didn't change my diet much either. all that weight gain was from the shot. I am now back to my ideal weight.
So, all in all, it really depends on your body.
i have bn on the shot for 3 years and i just recently switched to the pill. While on the shot i have gained so much weight from the time i was 20 til now and im 23 hopefully i will lose this weight because its no fun being this big!!!:(
Hi
I have been on tye shot for 4 years now. When I first started the shot I weighed around 160-170 I now weight 245. I have not had a period for 3 years. My doctor told me after being on the shot for over 2 yrs u would be at risk for osteoporosis so I increased my calcium intake. I have tried dieting while on the shot but cant seem to lose more than 10 lbs and no matter how much water I drink I still end up bloated. I am not taking the shot again in hopes of dropping a lot of this weight.
I was on the shot ONLY 3 MONTHS & I gained 30lbs . Im 5'4 and I looked slim at 163 , now I way 200lbs. Idk what to do!
I have always been small standing at 5'2 being 98 pounds but my doctors said I didn't look scary skinny.Anyways I got of the shot March 2012 and it was a journey,I became depressed all the time, sensitive about everything, obsessive, hair stopped growing, books were so sore. But I gained weight and my nurses were so amused because I went from 98 to 111 in a few months.I was on the shot from March 2012 to December 2012.In November 2012 I really noticed weight gain,i didn't recognize my body it looked great but my arms and flat stomach wasn't so appealing,I literally looked like I was four months in pregnancy.Going off the shot my periods were weird and I had my first cramp like in March 2013 with very little spotting,I was still able to get in a size 5 but my family noticed I lost a little weight. It is now December 2013 and I am almost back to my starting weight last I checked I was 106.It's sort of bad in some ways because I am happy to have my first painful cramp and period December 2013 but I shrunk to being small again. It was like I was pregnant honestly. The weight will come off once you stop,it's water weight.Unless you have a slow metabolism, being naturally small my metabolism is fast and work has taken over my greedy time.
If your a nurse you obviously went to school learn how to spell and realize everything effects everyone differently.
First of all, if you are a nurse, you should really use that education to learn to spell. I have been on and off Depo since I was 16, I am currently 35. When I stop the depo, it takes me about 2 months to get my period back, but about a year to start ovulating again. The last time I came off of it, it took us 2 years to get pregnant, but there were deployments to the middle east that added to the time. I do lose some hair when I am on the shot and I gain weight as well. It comes off when I stop the shot because I do go to the gym and try to watch what I eat. I also crave fewer things when I am not on the shot. I do love that I don't have periods while on the shot. It has been great for me as an option because I can't remember the pills and my cervix is so deep that it makes it complicated to get an IUD.
If you were a nurse, you would know everyone's body responds differently,
(You'd also type like you had some education...)
I am now 25 years old. Been taking depo since 16 with only a six month break when i was 19, i went back on. Besides weight gain, i am also losing my hair!!!! No joke. No explaining why from my doctor but she said i should change birth control to help my weight.
Now its the switch to pills or iud. Ummmm
I had depo shot after pregnancy took depo for 3 weeks got my second depo shot and realized gained SOOOO MUCH WEIGHT. Couldnt figure out why recently figured out after taking 2nd dose of Depo and i gotta tell you its quite depressing *Sighhh** I pray when this does is done i can lose the weight!
Iv'e only had the depo shot once, back in august of 2013. Since then I have gained over 15 pounds, and cannot fit into my clothes. What I've read on forums are really discouraging, that the horomones injected into your body are what make you gain weight, even if there are no changes to your diet. I'm about to try detoxing my body of the horomones from the shot left in my body, which can stay in there for OVER A YEAR!! Try dandelion root, Milk Thistle, Tumeric, B12 vitamins, and things to boost your metabolism. Definitely get at least 30 mins of exersize at least 3-5 times a week, and whatever you do, don't give up! I'm about to start my weight loss journey from this shot, and although things look bleak, Im hoping this will work.
You're a Nurse? What nursing qualification doesn't require basic English? I hope I never have the misfortune if being treated by someone as judgemental as you.
