Hello! I had shot of depro provera 1 year ago and I gained weigh (60 lbs in one year!) Horrible!!! And I didn’t change my eating habbits or anything. Also doctor told me there are no side effects to depo provera! So, my question now is: how soon do you lose weight after going of depo provera?

How long before you started your period?
Hey there I'm 17 and have been on the depo provera since I was 14 I gained 60+ pounds in just two years for a girl that was 16 and weighed 186 pounds I was miserable. I realized it wasn't the shot, the shot only makes you crave food causing you to eat more which of course causes weight gain. I decided to change my whole life style. Just last January, I began eating less and working out a whole lot more. Yes it was miserable at first, but I gained more morning and day energy. I've lost 83 pounds since then and an keeping the weight off and in still on the shot. The most important thing is that I quit drinking everything. I only drink water. No sodas, no tea, no Gatorade, just water. I eat just 3 meals a day usually a pop tart for breakfast, a peanut butter jelly sandwich for lunch, and I usually love to have a burrito or grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. It's also best to not fry your foods, that's extra fat. It's best to bake it out what ever, but don't fry it. I do sports that involve running. I do track and cross country. If it's raining and I can't run I usually do a dance workout video that is fun and only last 43 minutes. I downloaded an app that has some great ab workouts. I do this every day in the morning, in the afternoon(at practice) and at night, an hour before I go to bed. So don't say it's not possible to lose weight while on the depo provera because I'm living proof and there is my story I hope it helps.
i just got the shot 3 days ago and I have already gained 2 pounds and have had head pains. this is horrible!
What kind of birth control pill did you get on
Hi there I've just read your post and I suffer with the same, I have the Depo shot to stop my ovulation, which works so no more pain. Are you still on the shot? I seem to get a lot of side effects, depression, anxiety, hair loss. Have you had any side effects? Thanks in advance
Before the depo I weighed 140 I took it for 6 months and now I weigh 156. I just got off of it, seeing as the number on the scale never went down. I just got off of it, so we'll see...
Hey guys I just wanted to post that I have been on the shot since I was 16 and I am about to be turning 21. I went from weighing 112 pounds to 182 pounds and that has fluctuated a couple of times because there was a time where I stop eating completely and if I did it I would work it off right away. But the last year that I have been getting my shot I have again started gaining all of the weight back on. I work out all the time and I eat very healthy meals home-cooked meals and so on. So I was just wondering if there was any advice on if I should switch to something else?
do you see any weight loss now?
I was on Depo since i was 16 and i just got off of it at 20 and i gained 100 pounds and this is very upsetting for me i cry everyday and its so hard to lose it! I just dont even know what to do :(
i have had one dose of depo and gained almost 20 lbs in 2 months. if i have only had one how long will it take to lose weight. iv'e been the same weight for YEARS now if anything i have trouble maintaining a heathy weight. i am NEVER taking this again!!!!
I'm 17 and started the Depo shot when I was 16. It's been a full year that I've been on depo and I received my last shot almost 3 months ago. Ive never had children and I'm not currently trying. My periods completely stopped these past 6 months and I haven't gained any weight that has surprised me... I was active in high school and now that I'm just graduated I don't work out as much, so I've gained about 7 pounds (plus I've recently been splurging on sweets and not so healthy food so that's where the 7 pounds came from lol..). Some symptoms I felt during the shot was: nausea, fatigue, cramps, high irritability, some depression, and constant hunger. These didn't last the whole year I was on the shot though. I'll explain.. High irritability and depression (nothing serious, just cried and wanted to be alone.. A LOT) were sypmtoms when I believe my body was adjusting to the hormone; Fatigue and cramps occurred usually around the times I should have been having my periods; and nausea and constant hunger happened the least, but every now and then throughout the year. My periods were really spotty during the first 6 months, and now rounding the end of my last injection, my periods have started to come back spotty right away. I hope that means my body adjusts back to normal quickly without any problems. I definitely do not want kids right now, but I might in the future... So I hope taking this shot has not ruined my chances. PLUS I've been taking a calcium and vitamin D pill everyday. It helps tremendously, please TAKE CALCIUM TO AVOID OSTEOPOROSIS. Hope my experience was normal and helped someone else understand.
I took the shot in sept of 2015 and gained 60lbs in four months I was also bleeding the whole time I was on the shot it was horrible I was not happy it's now June of 2016 I have not been able to lose anything and I walk for three hours straight everyday I also go to the gym and I don't eat in healthy at all I hate salt and sugar and I don't drink anything but water Don't get the shot
Before the depo i have never been over 145 lbs and not pregnant. I have 5 children and with the first 4 i went right back down to my normal weight less than 2 weeks after giving birth (130-145lbs). After my last pregnancy i decided to get the depo shot before i left the hospital. I found myself blowing up before the 3 months were up so i decided not to get a 2nd shot. I now balance my weight between 182-194lbs. I never had to work out or anything to lose weight before. It is now 16months later and i am still suffering from the depo effects. I dont know what they injected in my body but it couldnt have been anything safe. DO NOT GET DEPO SHOT! I am constantly suffering from muscle and joint pain. It makes me feel lazy and i have always been very energetic before it. Somedays are better than others but it is totally not worth it.
Any luck? I'M where u were no period no weight loss. When did u get yours and did it make weight loss easier...the normal workout dieting not working
I was on Depo for several years and went from 125lbs to a whopping 193 within the first year of being on it. I did lose a bit of weight when I changed jobs and was more active and plateaued around 175lbs. I decided to get off Depo and it took a little over a year for my period to come back. In that same time, I started dropping pounds and now am at 140lbs!
