I go to the gyno for my yearly check ups. last year i had an abnormal pap smear, and had to get a colposcopy. This came back with a low cell count but no hpv. This year same thing except it came back with hpv cells. I have been with the same guy for over 2years and we are exclusive. I am freaking out because I dont want this!!!! How does this come out of no where?? From what i read there is no way to tell if guys have it, but i dont want to give it to him if he doesnt have it. and if he does, can it not go away?? Please anyone that has had hpv i seriously need info! Thanks a bunch!

It's a virus and somehow it was transmitted to either of you. You may have had it in your system, so might he.
It can also lie dormant for several years.
