Sure you can lose weight fast and there are several ways to do it. Eat next to nothing, exercise all the time, drink lots of coffee, take an over-the-counter weight loss magic pill and get some illegal amphetamines. First your hair falls out (no kidding) and eventually you harm your body really seriously before you die.OR, research how long and how hard it takes to burn calories through exercise --  just google it and you'll see that exercise is not the only and/or best way to lose weight. Determination is. Consider this  --  running one hour might burn up only 472 calories, drinking ONE soda is 150 - 200 calories.  Cut back on overall calorie intake, avoid empty calories in white bread, sugar and other carbohydrates like plain pasta and sodas. If you must east carbohydrates, try to increase your fiber intake with stoneground whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, and other less processed foods. Try to buy foods prepared at home, and those with five or fewer ingredients. Avoid high calorie drinks like sodas and fruit juices, eat more veggies, (3-5 servings a day), limit fats (especially trans-fats) and get enough sleep. You'd probably be surprised how not enough sleep can affect your eating patterns.

Hi Dupa,

I understand your need to loose weight as fast as possible because I was a bit overweight myself during my younger years.

I will not bore you with a lot of details because I've found that if you follow the following approaches outlined below, a lean and attractive body will be yours for the taking.

The most important thing to remember is that eating healthy and exercising is the only solution to long-term weight loss. Always aim for healthy weight loss.

Another thing that is equally important is your attitude and approach to losing weight

  • Set realistic goals. Don't expect to lose all your unwanted weight in one day or within a week. Set a realistic goal of, say, loosing a 1/4 Kg to 1Kg (half a pound to 2 pounds) a week.
  • Are there any underlying causes to your poor eating habits? If there are - these could be spiritual, mental or emotional, they need to be addressed first before you can embark on, and make any real progress with loosing weight.
  • Focus on improving your health. Your goal should be healthy weight loss.
  • Take it easy. Your body and mind have a lot of adjusting to do. Trying  to alter your diet and daily physical routines too quickly raises the chances of you eventually feeling bad,  losing momentum, and giving up. Patience is the best policy.

Now for the types of foods to eat. Here are some suggestions:

More whole grains, fruits, vegetables, legumes, limited amounts of lean animal protein and fiber. This is one of the best weight loss tips that will be of immense life-long benefit to you. Not only will you lose weight, but you'll also become much more healthier. You can partake of these foods as much as you want without gaining weight. If you have been eating a lot of processed foods, taking a step forward to these more wholesome foods will do wonders in helping you loose weight - and keep it off for good.

Processed foods such as white bread pizza's hamburgers cakes and white rice have had most of their fiber and other valuable nutrients removed. When eaten, they are hurriedly converted into glucose (blood sugar), causing sudden spikes in your insulin levels that causes your body to store more fat instead of burning it.

Dietary fiber helps to prevent those spikes in your insulin levels, maintains optimal blood sugar levels and enhances weight loss.
