I am on Suboxone and can't afford my prescription

Dr. Thomas, I have never heard of any pharma company paying for suboxone prescriptions. Is this REALLY true? And if so why has no one ever heard of it? I do know that yes , sometimes, you can get your scripts for certain medications paid for if you honestly don't have the money to afford them, but I don't see any company paying your way for Suboxone.

very well put !!! you have to keep in mind though that suboxone was, like you put, intended to be for short term use not long term, but MANY MANY doctors will keep you on it pretty much as long as you like period. They don't say well, you need to ween down or you will only be on this for 6 months. Not at all, to all drs running a sub program is the most lucrative endevour they have ever come across. So why would they cut patients down or off? THEY DON'T and this is one of the biggest reasons why people end up trading 1 addiction for another. Yes partly their faul't but when a dr doesn't tell you otherwise, then screw it right??? Just saying this is what has happened to this great drug that should and could save so many suffering people. But when they can make a couple hundred off every patient, and in PA they can have a hundred patients...well you get my point I hope. Back when insurance (whether private or medicaid ) paid for the office visit and they only made $50 or $60 it was a little different. Sorry I will stop ranting, I def agree but the patients are not the only people in the wrong !!! God Bless and good luck on your recovery.

How did you manage to get it for free for a year? Sorry I can't help you out with your situation hun but I am wondering, I seen someone else post they got it directly from the manufacturer ( pharmaceutical company) is that true?

Not sure why you think suboxone is not addictive? Its highly addictive, ask anyone who takes it!

There is help out there the manufacturers of Suboxone offer a program called here to help that will provide the medication for free for 1 year provided that your doctor does not have more than three patients on the program. I am a 56 year-old woman who has been addicted to opiates since I was 30 years old and Suboxone saved my life I will share a little bit of my story starting with I Flatlined 3 times and had many many drug overdoses where I should have died but I think that God saved me to help and I'm hoping that I'm helping a little bit right now. I was highly addicted to opiates at 30 years old because of a back injury and I am 56 years old. Basically drugs robbed me of my life and denied me of many things. Did I have a choice of course I did but after I took that first pill I lost all choices. And if you know anything about the disease of addiction you will understand that last statement Once the drug has taken over all your choices are gone until you get help. I've been in over 30 treatment centers and since Suboxone not only have I not had any drug Cravings I haven't had to visit a treatment center. I did not buy my drugs on the streets so that's not an issue and people who say stuff like that to show their ignorance. It doesn't matter where you bought it, how you bought it, what matters is that you got addicted and believe me drug addiction does not discriminate and does not care who you are or what you have. I am currently on the here to help program I just found out that my program ends on the 21st and my refill is due on the 22nd I am a cancer patient and I have no money to buy ihat I am now addicted to and I am not able or willing to go through suboxone withdrawals at the moment. I am going to call and see if they can help me anymore maybe get me an extension because I have no health insurance at the moment but believe me I will find help and if you look hard enough you can too. I highly suggest trying the Suboxone manufacturers program first and then go from there and quit listening to all these other people who think they know what they're talking about but do not there are certain qualifications if you go on their website you will see them if I can help you in any other way please please please respond to me and I will I know the struggle and I know the pain and Lord knows I did not ask for this but I'm doing everything I canto become a productive member of society and forever the last year I have been there and what a joy it is. I'd like to say that most of this I spoke to the microphone which is why there are not proper punctuation so I'm not ignorant I'm just lazy and didn't want to type lol! Someone in active addiction is lying, begging, stealing and manipulating to get their drug of choice. You take the suboxone, and get your life back. Maybe you're physically addicted to suboxone but it's not even CLOSE to the horrors of IV heroin use.

When you use Heroin etc. Generally people don't have a lump sum of money to go buy all there H for whole month they get way smaller amounts and eventually just maintain to not get sick PAY in FULL is a Little different when it's hundreds possibly in the thousands at once to come up with use your brain genius

Walgreens with good Rx discount will bring the pill Subutex/buprenorphine the ones without that naloxone c**p, 8mg #60 is what I get and it's about$180. Luckily, this is one of the few Rxs you can split or even just go every week and get a set amount, may cost a lil Xtra that way, but you won't be broke all at once! Love my family ran pharmacy, 60 Subutex $150 every month, never changes. They also have made a generic called a Troche, it's like a gummy bear, scored in 4 sections, only bad thing for them is you have to keep it room temp or they melt. But grape flavor is way better than chalk or the strips. They last for a longer period of time to and you can get 2mg/.5 4mg/1 8mg/2 and 9mg/2.5, the second part would be the amount of naloxone, way easier to use to come off than trying to split pills. Was on methadone for about 10yrs, this drug saved my life and gave me my life back to where I can actually save money and not always looking for something on the street. Almost 5yrs on it and will never go on another pain killer again, this stuff works just fine for the pain and I never run out

Wow John, you hit it right on nail. The money i spend on Subs a month would of went in 3 days, and to top that off, i still have my job, and to top that off, im not running the streets and going to JAIL. Subs gave me my life back.
